Andre Johnson caught seven balls for 131 yards in the Texans' third preseason game Sunday against the Saints.
He only played for two quarters. Johnson got wide open easily against a predictably inept Saints first-team defense, but sure didn't look like he's lost a step age age 32. Through three preseason affairs, Johnson has eight grabs for 151 yards. He's a low-end WR1 at this point, but every bit capable of giving owners a week-to-week advantage. Johnson is a value pick in the third round.

"Some" opponents suggest Andre Johnson has lost "perhaps a half-step" and "isn't as explosive" as he once was entering his age-32 season.
Although Johnson put up monster 2012 stats following a slow start, it was noticeable on tape that he's become a less explosive route runner versus man coverage. His production was also buoyed by volume; he finished fifth in the NFL in targets. Per the National Football Post's Len Pasquarelli, the Texans have "privately allowed" they must develop a future No. 1 receiver because Johnson is no longer a long-term solution. They drafted DeAndre Hopkins in the first round.

Coach Gary Kubiak promises the Texans will continue to run a high percentage of their passing offense through Andre Johnson.
In 2012, Houston was one of just four NFL teams to target one receiver more than the rest combined (58.1 percent). Asked about the 58.1 percent target rate, Kubiak replied "Tell them a big percentage is going to go through him again. It's going to happen again." Johnson will continue to be the No. 1 read on the heavy majority of Matt Schaub's dropbacks, which is great for fantasy value.

Andre Johnson was targeted on 58.1 percent of the Texans' passes to wideouts last season, the highest rate in the league.
Even at age 31, Johnson was dominant in 2012. Matt Schaub had a 70.9 completion percentage when throwing to his No. 1 receiver and 56.6 completion percentage when throwing elsewhere. With a rookie expected to fill the No. 2 wideout spot this season, Johnson is going to be a target monster once again. A second consecutive 100-catch season is well within reach.

Andre Johnson said he wants to play five more seasons in the NFL.
Johnson, 32 in July, hasn't slowed down much despite being Houston's lone legitimate receiver for years. In 2012, he set a new single-season career-high in receiving yards (1,598) and fell three catches (112) short of setting a new career-best in catches. The only complaint is that Johnson has only found the end zone six times over his last 23 games. The 11-year veteran also made it clear that he hopes the Texans add a quality receiver to pair with him in the draft.

Andre Johnson triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $6.2 million to $9.5 million.
Johnson finished the 2012 season with 112 grabs for 1,598 yards but just four touchdowns. His catch total was good for fourth-best in the NFL, while his yards total was second only behind Calvin Johnson. At 31 years old, Johnson is still going strong, but the Texans could definitely stand to get him some help at receiver this offseason. He has four years left on his current deal.

Texans owner Bob McNair says the offense needs another playmaker at wide receiver.
"We need another playmaker (at receiver). We want more speed at receiver. Andre (Johnson) had a great year, but we can't expect him to carry the load for all the receivers," said McNair. The Texans have been trying to skate by with Kevin Walter as their No. 2 receiver for the past few seasons, but he brings nothing to the table in the passing game. Rookie DeVier Posey was coming on, but he tore his Achilles' last weekend and won't be much of a factor in 2013. Look for Houston to make it a point to add a threat on the outside.

Andre Johnson led the Texans with 95 yards on eight receptions in Sunday's Divisional round loss at New England.
He added a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter after just missing his own touchdown. Covered primarily by Aqib Talib, Johnson's 11 targets were second only to Owen Daniels' 15. After averaging 100 yards per game during the regular season, Johnson averaged 78.5 in the postseason, largely due to Matt Schaub's regression. Still in his prime at age 31, Johnson is a top-10 fantasy receiver for 2013.

Andre Johnson caught four balls for 62 yards in the Texans' Wild Card Round win over the Bengals.
Play-action exposed Cincinnati's zone coverage on the Texans' third possession and Johnson cleanly hauled in a 19-yard gain. He tacked on a 21-yard pickup in the third quarter, getting inside position on a double move against Pacman Jones. They were Johnson's two big plays on an otherwise quiet day. Johnson can expect to be shadowed by Aqib Talib in the Divisional Round.

Andre Johnson caught 12 passes for 141 yards in the Texans' Week 17 loss to the Colts.
Johnson was the only featured receiver in the Texans' passing offense and finished with 17 targets from Matt Schaub. He'll go into the playoffs with four straight games of at least 95 yards and joins former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison as the only players in NFL history with 1,500 receiving yards and 100 catches in three seasons.
