Mattison rushed five times for 20 yards and caught one of two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's wild-card win over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison missed the final three regular-season games while dealing with a high-ankle sprain, but he didn't report any lingering effects following the playoff contest. "I felt good out there," Mattison said, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "I warmed up the right way, prepared the right way and so everything felt good." His limited workload was likely due to Dalvin Cook -- who logged 31 touches -- returning to action after a shoulder injury. With Cook still healthy, Mattison will continue to work as the No. 2 in the divisional round versus San Francisco.

Mattison (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Dalvin Cook (shoulder) also logged a full session Wednesday, which sets the stage for him to head the Vikings' backfield in Sunday's playoff opener against the Saints, while Mattison works in a change-of-pace/complementary role.

Mattison (ankle) expects to play in Sunday's game at New Orleans, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same goes for Dalvin Cook (shoulder), who also missed the final two games of the regular season. It sounds like both running backs will practice Wednesday, but it isn't clear if they'll be full participants or limited.

Mattison (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
While continuing to manage the ankle injury, Mattison was unable to advance beyond limited participation in practice this week. Because the Vikings are already locked in as the NFC's No. 6 seed entering Sunday, Mattison won't be asked to play through the injury with the playoffs on the horizon. Both Mattison and Dalvin Cook (shoulder) should be ready to go for the wild-card round, but Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah will headline the Minnesota backfield in the meaningless regular-season finale.

Mattison (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Locked in as the NFC's No. 6 seed, the Vikings reportedly are leaning toward taking a cautious approach with their players with little at stake in the regular-season finale, per Cronin. That would seem to point to Mattison getting an inactive status, but it apparently isn't a sure thing, whereas Dalvin Cook (shoulder) has already been ruled out. Should Mattison join Cook on the inactive list or have a limited role (if any) Sunday, Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah would be Minnesota's main backfield options for Week 17. Minnesota and Chicago will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.

Mattison (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Both Mattison and Dalvin Cook (shoulder) had their reps capped in the Vikings' first traditional practice of the week (the team held a walk-through session Christmas Day), but neither running back is certain to be available Sunday against the Bears. With the Vikings locked into the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs regardless of how any Week 17 game plays out, there's reason to think the team may use caution with both banged-up backs and withhold them from action. The Vikings will provide a final update on Mattison's status for the regular-season finale shortly after Friday's practice.

Mattison (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice.
EDGE Analysis
While it's encouraging in some sense that Mattison wasn't deemed a non-participant to begin the week, the Vikings probably won't have a better feel for his status for the Week 17 matchup with the Bears until getting a look at him in more traditional practices Thursday and Friday. Given that the Vikings are locked in as the NFC's No. 6 seed in the playoffs, it wouldn't be surprising if the team acted conservatively with both Mattison and top back Dalvin Cook (chest) -- who was also limited Wednesday -- and held them out for the regular-season finale to preserve their health for the postseason.

Mattison (ankle) is inactive for Monday's game versus the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
With Dalvin Cook (chest) and Mattison sidelined, the Vikings' backfield is a bit short-handed during the push for playoff positioning. In their absence, Mike Boone is expected to receive the bulk of the RB reps, while Ameer Abdullah and fullback C.J. Ham also are available for touches.

Mattison (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Monday's matchup with the Packers, is viewed as a game-time decision, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Given that Mattison has managed just one limited practice over the past two weeks while tending to the ankle injury, the Vikings appear inclined to wait and see how the rookie checks out during a workout Monday before rendering a verdict on his status. Since Mattison's availability (or lack thereof) isn't expected to be known until a few hours before Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, he'll be a risky option for fantasy lineups, given that his managers would likely have few alternatives to turn to in the event he's inactive for Week 16. Given that the Vikings have already secured a wild-card spot in addition to the fact that Green Bay can still take home the NFC North crown with a Week 17 win over the reeling 3-10-1 Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN speculates that Minnesota will likely take a conservative approach with Mattison and hold him out for a second straight game. If that's the case, Mike Boone would likely headline a Week 16 Vikings backfield that will be missing Dalvin Cook (chest), who has already been ruled out.

EDGE Analysis
Dalvin Cook has been officially ruled out, and Mattison remains uncertain for Monday, which could open the door for Mike Boone to get the start in the Minnesota backfield. Mattison went through individual drills in Saturday's practice and a final decision on his status will come in the hours before kickoff.
