Mattison rushed seven times for 18 yards in Sunday's 42-30 win over the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
This game was a true shootout, but Mattison still managed 21 of a possible 72 snaps on offense (29 percent). While he was unproductive in the role, especially compared to Dalvin Cook's 5.7 YPC on 25 rushes, his rotation in the offense looks secure going forward. The workhorse role that awaits if anything happens to Cook makes Mattison one of the top fantasy handcuffs, and there's a chance he sees garbage-time work in Week 8 if the Vikings can blow out the Redskins.

Mattison rushed 14 times for 63 yards and lost a fumble in the Vikings' 38-20 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie actually outpaced Dalvin Cook in rushing yardage and had just two fewer carries, as game script was favorable to the running game for large portions of the contest. Mattison did have a trademark mixed bag of a performance for a first-year player, thrilling with a 35-yard scamper but also turning the ball over on a fumble late in the fourth quarter deep in Philadelphia territory. Mattison will look to build on his career-best day versus the Lions in a Week 7 divisional matchup.

Mattison ran for 52 yards on seven carries during Sunday's 28-10 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison made his presence felt early, rumbling through the Giants defense relatively untouched for a 19-yard gain late in the first quarter, setting up a Vikings touchdown. Playing behind a do-it-all back in Dalvin Cook, Mattison is averaging just seven touches per game, but is yielding quality results with an average of 5.6 yards per carry. Despite playing second fiddle to Cook, the rookie maintains value on a run-first team. Minnesota will be tested this week against Philadelphia's top-ranked run defense, which has surrendered just 63 yards per game thus far this season.

Mattison gained five yards on two carries and caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
The Vikings' running game was finally shut down in this outing, as Dalvin Cook rushed 14 times for 35 scoreless yards. They were forced to throw more than usual, and Mattison logged a season-low six of a possible 60 offensive snaps (10 percent). Mattison sees most of his usage when the team has comfortable leads like it did against the Falcons (nine carries) and the Raiders (12 carries). With that being said, Mattison is one of the league's top handcuffs since the Vikings run the ball 29.8 times per game, ranking fourth in the league.

Mattison ran for 58 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries during Sunday's 34-14 win against the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie third-round draft choice hurdled Raiders safety Curtis Riley en route to a 10-yard touchdown run, providing him with his first career regular-season score in the NFL. Mattison has been profoundly efficient in a limited sample size to this point, averaging 5.3 yards per carry on 25 attempts. In Week 4 he and the Vikings backfield will be facing a Bears defense that has yet to allow a 60-yard rusher, or a rushing touchdown this season.

Mattison had four carries for 25 yards in Sunday's loss at Green Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played just eight snaps on offense. He continues to be productive when in the game (nine carries for 49 yards Week 1) but is going to have a limited backup role unless Dalvin Cook gets hurt. It's still possible that Mattison could emerge with a goal-line role.

Sun 9/8/19 7:28 PM

Mattison carried the ball nine times for 49 yards in Week 1 against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison did nearly all of his damage on two plays, ripping off a 23-yard run on his second carry of the game. With six minutes remaining in the second quarter, he got pushed out of bounds one yard shy of the end zone after a 17-yard gain. While Mattison appears to be the primary back to spell Dalvin Cook, his usage will likely remain limited this season, especially in more competitive contests. Still, it was an impressive debut for the rookie, and he's a strong handcuff for the Minnesota backfield.

Mattison had six carries for 18 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison and the first-team offense didn't do much in the third preseason game, but he's done enough this preseason to secure the No. 2 RB role. He's also shown enough promise that he could gain a significant role off the bench and emerge as the goal-line back.

Mattison had 10 carries for 41 yards in Sunday's preseason win over Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
With Dalvin Cook likely to sit out the entire preseason as the Vikings play it safe with their starting running back, Mattison has been the starter in the first two preseason games. His 4.1 YPC on Sunday were a positive sign as he could gain a significant role off the bench and emerge as the goal-line back. He looks set to win the No. 2 running back role.

Mattison carried nine times for 30 yards and turned his lone target into a one-yard touchdown during Friday's 34-25 preseason win over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison led the team in carries, and although he averaged a pedestrian 3.3 yards per tote, he made a splash with a one-yard touchdown reception from Kirk Cousins on the opening drive. This was an encouraging debut for Mattison, who has already earned the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Dalvin Cook. If he shows he can produce more efficiently with his carries, the rookie could make a case for a larger role when the regular season starts, which would allow the team to spell Cook a bit more often.
