Bucks GM John Hammond told Bleacher Report on Sirius XM on Sunday that he views Maker as a "rotational player at a miminum to start his career."
EDGE Analysis
Maker's selection at No. 10 overall in Thursday's draft was viewed by many as one of the more surprising moves of the first round, given the existing questions about the 7-foot-1 big men's age, as well as his label as a project due to his lack of prior experience at either the college or pro level. However, Hammond and the Bucks brass were enamored by Maker, and believe that the 19-year-old's length, athleticism and smooth jump shot will make him an immediate contributor in the NBA. The Bucks view Maker as a power forward, and it's likely that he'll open the season in a backup role behind Jabari Parker.
