Gobert (back) amassed 16 points (7-8 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals across 20 minutes during Sunday's 141-124 victory over the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran center saw his first action since Feb. 12 as he returned from a back issue. His minutes were limited, but it's unclear if it was because he was under a specific restriction, or because Gobert picked up two first-quarter fouls that prompted head coach Chris Finch to hold him out for the entire second quarter. In any case, Gobert made the most of his time on the court by turning in a hihgly efficient performance. Minnesota doesn't play again until Wednesday in Denver and doesn't face a back-to-back set until next Sunday and Monday, so Gobert could ramp up to his usual workload fairly quickly.

Gobert (back) will start Sunday's game against the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Gobert has missed the last 10 games due to a back injury, but he will make his return Sunday. Considering the amount of time Gobert has missed, it wouldn't be surprising if he is on a minutes restriction as he eases back into play.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said prior to Thursday's 111-102 loss to the Lakers that Gobert (back) and Julius Randle (groin) are both "close" to playing in games, but no formal target date for either player has been established, Charlie Walton of ZoneCoverage.com reports. "We don't anticipate either of them in the near, near future, but they are both going in the right direction," Finch said of Gobert and Randle.
EDGE Analysis
Though Minnesota returned Donte DiVincenzo (toe) from an extended absence Thursday, the team looks as though it'll have to wait a bit longer to get back to full strength while Gobert and Randle are on the mend from injuries. Based on Finch's comments, Gobert and Randle can both be ruled out for the second leg of Minnesota's back-to-back set Friday in Utah, and a return from either player in the final game of the road trip Sunday in Phoenix may be ambitious. Naz Reid and Jalen McDaniels should continue to benefit from elevated playing time in the frontcourt until Gobert and Randle return. Gobert hasn't played since Feb. 12 due to low back injury maintenance.
