Barring an unforeseen last-second change of heart, Rasheed Wallace has decided to remain retired. Wallace, 37, had worked out for the Heat and was also rumored to be courted by the Lakers, but it looks like 'Sheed will not make a surprise return to the NBA.

Rasheed Wallace won't decide whether to come out of retirement until this weekend, at the earliest. Players who were waived have to be claimed by Friday in order to be eligible for the playoffs, so Sheed is going to survey the landscape and decide if there's an appropriate spot for him to sign. He won't have fantasy value this season.

Rasheed Wallace has reportedly worked out for the Heat, but remains uncertain as to whether or not he'll return to the NBA. 'Sheed has been linked to the Lakers and the Heat, but is taking his time in making a decision. He could very well have enough left to help out a contender, but it's unlikely that he'll be in line for heavy minutes if he does come back.

According to Comcast SportsNet New England, Rasheed Wallace is set to sign with the Lakers. Because the Lakers only have 14 players on their roster, they can add Wallace and not have to waive a player to make room for their newest addition. Adding 'Sheed may fuel rumors that the Lakers are looking to move Pau Gasol, but sources say adding Wallace is a move that will add depth to the Lakers bench, not one that precludes another deal.

Yahoo! Sports reports that if the Lakers don't sign Kenyon Martin, the team "could have interest" in signing Rasheed Wallace. Wallace made some waves in mid-January when it was revealed he was contemplating a return, but no team has showed interest publicly in bringing him aboard. Wallace reportedly contacted the Lakers to gauge interest if the club would be interested, and it's clear the Lakers are keeping a watchful eye on the free agent market in an effort to make improvements to the current roster.

The Celtics have no interest in bringing back Rasheed Wallace. Wallace is contemplating a comeback attempt, and the Celtics have already expressed that the club is uninterested before he even has a chance to file the paperwork. At 37 years old and having shot 28 percent from beyond the arc when he last played in Boston during the 2009-10 season, this hardly comes as a surprise.

Rasheed Wallace is considering a return to the NBA. There are reportedly concerns among GMs about how Wallace's conditioning would be in a condensed season, and rightfully so. Now 37, Wallace averaged 9.0 points and 4.1 rebounds on 40.9 percent shooting with the Celtics during the 2009-10 season.
