Smart was helped to the locker room after suffering an apparent ankle injury Monday against Phoenix, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was hardly able to put any weight on his foot after suffering the injury, so he'll head to the locker room for further evaluation. His return should be considered questionable until further notice.

Smart tallied five points (2-16 FG, 1-8 3Pt), nine assists, five rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes Sunday in the Celtics' 100-99 loss to the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
With the Celtics trailing by a point as the clock ticked down in the fourth quarter, Smart threw up a runner that trickled around the rim, but it ultimately wouldn't go as Boston saw its winning streak end at 10. The missed shot punctuated a frustrating day from the field for Smart, who saw his season field-goal percentage fall from 41.3 to 37.6 percent as a result of the poor outing. Smart figures to remain a liability in that particular category, but he brings enough value in the counting stats categories and in free-throw percentage to make him a player worth rostering in most rotisserie leagues.

Smart produced 15 points (5-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block across 35 minutes in Friday's 105-100 road win over the Warriors.
EDGE Analysis
Smart has now started the first three games of Gordon Hayward's (hand) absence and once again delivered a very Smart-like stat line. This is the second game this season in which the aggressive wing drained five three-pointers. He's averaging a lofty 36 minutes per contest with Hayward out, a trend that should continue for the next five or so weeks. The starters, including Smart, really delivered this victory as Boston's bench supplied only 17 total points.

Smart supplied 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six assists, one rebound and one block in 37 minutes during Monday's 116-106 win over the Mavericks.
EDGE Analysis
Smart drew the start in place of Gordon Hayward (hand) and filled in capably, providing an efficient scoring performance while picking up the slack in the playmaking department as well. With Hayward likely out until late December and Kemba Walker (head) up in the air heading into Wednesday's matchup versus the Wizards, Smart seems set to see another substantial minutes load.

Smart will draw the start at shooting guard for Tuesday's matchup with the Mavericks, Bobby Karalla of the Mavericks' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart will replace Gordon Hayward (hand) in the starting lineup. Hayward is expected to be sidelined several months, so Smart could be in line for an extended stay with the starting unit. However, head coach Brad Stevens could opt to go with lineups based on matchups. Still, the the 25-year-old should be in line for a slightly increased workload going forward.

Smart delivered 16 points (5-10 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals across 25 minutes in Saturday's 135-115 win in San Antonio.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was red hot during the first half, but was forced to miss time in the second half after receiving a knee to the groin. The feisty wing was a big reason Boston led early. And now it looks like Smart might return to the starting lineup with Gordon Hayward (hand) expected to miss time. Smart's defense has always been impressive. It will be interesting to see if Smart can get his field goal percentage back up to last year's 42 percent. The C's now head to Dallas for Monday's matchup with the Mavs.

Smart posted six points (2-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists and two rebounds to go along with two steals over 22 minutes in the Celtics' 108-87 win against the Hornets on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart logged his lowest minute total and field-goal percentage of the season in the Celtics' rout of the Hornets. Although Smart's scoring abilities were not particularly needed in the blowout win due to five of his teammates finishing with double-digit numbers in the scoring category, the defensive menace's output was still discouraging, as his 2-of-8 performance from the field marked his fifth outing of the season converting on just a third of his shots or fewer.

Smart is starting Friday's game against the Knicks, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Unsurprisingly, Smart will enter the starting lineup for the second straight game with Jaylen Brown (illness) out of commission. He erupted for 19 points, six assists and four rebounds Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Smart scored 19 points (7-16 FG, 5-11 3Pt) while adding six assists, four rebounds and a steal in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 116-105 win over the Bucks.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start of the year with Jaylen Brown (illness) sidelined, Smart unsurprisingly delivered his best numbers through four games, and his five three-pointers doubled his total on the young season. The 25-year-old is seeing a slightly higher workload so far with Terry Rozier no longer part of the backcourt rotation -- after averaging 27.5 minutes in 2018-19, Smart hasn't played fewer than 28 minutes in a game in 2019-20 -- but as yet the additional run hasn't translated into a significant production boost.

Smart will get the starting nod Wednesday night against the Bucks, Nicole Yang of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown (illness), so Smart will get the nod at shooting guard alongside Kemba Walker. Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward will start up front, with Daniel Theis at center.
