Lowry did not play in Wednesday's preseason matchup with the Clippers.

After starting each of the first two exhibition contests, Lowry was held out of action Wednesday to rest. That allowed rookie Fred VanVleet to start in the backcourt alongside DeMar DeRozan, and the Wichita State product finished with three points (1-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt) in 21 minutes.

Lowry has committed to playing for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Doug Smith of the TheStar.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Lowry continues to reach new heights as he is about to enter his tenth season in the league. The Toronto point guard will be on Team USA for the first time in his career, as he comes off his best season to date. He averaged 21.2 points and 6.4 assists on the year, while leading the Raptors to the Eastern Conference finals. Lowry has a chance to be the team's starting point guard with Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, and Russell Westbrook all withdrawing their names from consideration.

Lowry underwent a physical over the weekend to determine whether or not offseason surgery on his ailing right elbow will be necessary, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.

EDGE Analysis

Lowry sustained the elbow injury in late March, but played through the issue over the remainder of the regular season and postseason, save for a couple games down the stretch to rest up for the playoffs. Though he ended the Raptors' Eastern Conference Finals series loss to the Cavaliers on a high note with 35 points on 11-for-22 shooting in Game 6, Lowry's shot was off for much of the postseason, which may be partially due to the elbow injury. News on Lowry's decision on surgery should surface in the next couple of days after the Raptors have had the opportunity to fully evaluate him, but don't expect the point guard to be at risk of missing the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign regardless of what ends up happening.

Lowry scored 35 points (11-22 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 7-7 FT) while adding three rebounds, three assists and a block in 42 minutes during Friday's Game 6 loss to the Cavaliers.

EDGE Analysis

While the Raptors as a team didn't put up much of a fight in Cleveland's series-clinching win, Lowry certainly went down swinging. It was the fifth time in the last 11 games that he scored 30 or more points, and he finishes Toronto's playoff run by averaging 19.1 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 boards, 2.1 threes and 1.6 steals in 20 games.

Lowry lit up the Cavaliers for 35 points (14-20 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five assists, five rebounds and three steals across 44 minutes in Monday's 105-99 win in Game 4 of the series.

EDGE Analysis

It's the fourth time this postseason that Lowry has surpassed the 30-point plateau, but this was by far his best shooting outing in any of those contests. While he's still hit only 38.9 percent of his shots during his 18 playoff contests, Lowry is hovering around his regular season marks with 18.6 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 three-pointers and 1.7 steals across 38.6 minutes.

Lowry scored 20 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding six rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes during Saturday's Game 3 win over the Cavaliers.

EDGE Analysis

Once again Lowry's aggressive playing style, and a lack of respect from the refs, resulted in some early foul trouble, but the Toronto point guard was able to stay in the game and bury some big shots after scoring only 18 combined points through the first two games of the series. Expect another full-throttle effort from Lowry on Monday in Game 4.

Lowry compiled 10 points (4-14 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and a steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's 108-89 Game 2 conference finals loss to the Cavaliers.

EDGE Analysis

The All-Star guard endured a second straight subpar game on offense against the Cavs, producing a 4-14 line from the field that was identical to that of Game 1. Lowry particularly scuffled from long range, and is now a combined 1-for-15 from beyond the arc in the series' first two contests. He'll look to regain the stroke he had during the semifinals against Miami in Game 3 at home, where he shot an outstanding 56 percent (9-for-16) on three-point attempts over the last two games versus the Heat.

Lowry was limited to eight points (4-14 FG, 0-7 3Pt), five assists and four rebounds across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 115-84 Game 1 loss to the Cavaliers.

EDGE Analysis

Lowry appeared to slip out of his postseason-long shooting slump after producing 36 and 35 points, respectively, in the Raptors' Games 6 and 7 matchups with the Heat during the second round. However, he reverted to poor form in the series opener versus the Cavaliers, coming up empty from behind the arc while contributing nearly as many turnovers (four) as assists. The Cavaliers have dominated the opposition throughout the postseason, and with one of the Raptors' best players in Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) uncertain to play in the Eastern Conference Finals, Lowry and backcourt mate DeMar DeRozan will need to play at elite levels for the team to remain competitive in the series.

EDGE Analysis

The All-Star was in top form as the Raptors advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, leading the team in scoring while tying his high mark for assists, steals and three-point makes in the series. While Lowry might have struggled early on, he finished with a bang and averaged 23.4 points, 5.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game for the series. His play will be essential to the upcoming matchup with a well-rested Cavaliers team.

Lowry scored 36 points (12-27 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 9-10 FT) while adding four rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes during Friday's Game 6 loss to the Heat.

EDGE Analysis

The Raptors' backcourt did their best to ensure the series wasn't extended to seven games, as Lowry and DeMar DeRozan combined for 59 points, but no other Toronto player scored more than eight. Lowry also got in foul trouble again, although it didn't cost him any court time Friday, but if he can't control his aggressiveness it could play a huge role in Game 7 back in Toronto on Sunday.
