The tough matchup against the Spurs was likely at least partly to blame for his struggles. The matchup against the Warriors in the next game could be a tough one as well, but expect him to bounce back from this subpar performance.

Lowry finished with 17 points (6-12 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and five assists across 28 minutes during Saturday's 128-94 blowout win over the 76ers.

This performance probably won't be indicative of things to come for the veteran, who posted 22.4 points, 7.0 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in 2016-17.

Lowry scored 17 points (5-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT) while adding six assists, two rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes during Friday's preseason win over the Bulls.

EDGE Analysis

The point guard closed out the exhibition schedule with another strong effort, and he looks poised to build on last year's career-best campaign. Lowry and the rest of the Raptors will now get nearly a week to rest before they kick off the regular season at home next Thursday against these same Bulls.

It was DeMar DeRozan's turn to rest Thursday after Lowry had taken a seat Wednesday, and the latter was able to capitalize with his second strong effort in as many exhibitions. The veteran point guard already appears to be in midseason form and is primed for his typical high-usage role after re-upping with the Raptors on a three-year, $100 million contract this offseason.

Lowry will sit out Wednesday's preseason matchup with the Clippers for rest.

Lowry was very impressive in the team's preseason opener on Sunday, posting 17 points (3-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 8-8 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal across 16 minutes. However, since it's the preseason, the Raptors are going to try and limit his overall workload, so he'll get the night off in Wednesday's rematch with the Clippers that is taking place at the Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii. That should open more minutes for guys like Delon Wright and Fred VanVleet.

Lowry has agreed to terms on a three-year, $100 million contract with the Raptors, Michael Scotto of the Associated Press reports.

After bringing back Serge Ibaka on a three-year deal earlier Sunday, in addition to this latest Lowry signing, the Raptors now retain nearly their entire rotation from the team that made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals last year. Lowry, specifically, was a key part in that, as he's coming off a season where he averaged a career-high 22.4 points, while adding 4.8 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.5 steals across 37.4 minutes. With the majority of the Raptors' supporting cast in place, Lowry should see a relatively similar role to last season, which should make him one of the elite fantasy options at point guard yet again.

Lowry opted out of the final year on his contract Friday, making him a free agent.

EDGE Analysis

With Lowry only set to make $12 million in the final year of his deal with the Raptors, opting out comes as no surprise. The All-Star point guard is expected to earn a large pay raise on the open market this offseason after averaging a career-high 22.4 points per game in his 11th NBA season. Lowry would earn the most money if he re-signed a max deal with Toronto, but given the disappointing end to the postseason for the Raptors, the veteran out of Villanova will surely explore other options before making a final decision.

Lowry indicated Saturday that he was "doubtful" for the tilt, but finally confirmed Sunday that he will miss the contest. Cleveland enters the contest with a 3-0 lead on Toronto, potentially ending he and the Raptors' playoffs with a win.
