Interim coach Mike Woodson wouldn't commit to restricted free agent Jeremy Lin as his starting point guard for next season. This will get more play than it's worth. It would be silly to name starters for next season right now, especially when the Knicks are rumored to be in the mix for unrestricted free agent Steve Nash. Both Woodson and Lin are expected back with New York next season and the Knicks' other offseason moves will define Linsanity's 2012-13 role.

Restricted free agent Jeremy Lin is expected back with the Knicks. Due to the "Arenas Rule", no team can offer Lin more than that NBA's average salary. Therefore, there's almost no way the Knicks are going to lose Lin as they can match any offer. They'll use all or part of their $5 million mid-level exception and bring him back as their clear starting point guard.

Jeremy Lin, who has been ruled out for the first round of the playoffs, still feels pain in his knee after workouts. Lin also said that he hasn't played at more than 85 percent intensity and that he doesn't yet "trust" his knee. The Knicks won't escape the Heat in the first round, but even if they did a return to Linsanity is far from being a reality.

Jeremy Lin (knee) will not play at all in the first round of the playoffs. "He's not ready," said Mike Woodson. Even if the series goes a full seven games, a scenario that is incredibly unlikely, Lin has been ruled out for the entire first round. It's time to officially retire "Linsanity" for the remainder of the 2012 playoffs.

Coach Mike Woodson said he is "not counting on Jeremy Lin to play" in Wednesday's Game 5 against the Heat. For now, consider Lin doubtful. He hasn't played since March 24 and even if he makes a surprise appearance, limited minutes are likely. Lin is likely to err on the side of caution as he approaches restricted free agency. With Baron Davis (knee) out, Mike Bibby is expected to start in Game 5.

Jeremy Lin (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Heat. Lin, who hasn't played since March 24, is expected to try to practice on Monday and Tuesday. If that goes well, he has a chance to suit up Wednesday. The Knicks desperately need Lin back as Baron Davis dislocated his kneecap in Game 4. The only other point guards on the roster are Toney Douglas and Mike Bibby.

Jeremy Lin (knee) will not play in Game 4 against the Heat. "I'll probably get one more day of contact maybe in between now and the next game and I haven't been able to load it or jump or explode or drive by somebody the way I want to," Lin said. Lin is hoping to return if there is a Game 5, but he should be considered very questionable for that one if the series advances that far. We're not expecting him back with the Knicks in an insurmountable 0-3 hole.

Updating a previous item, Jeremy Lin (knee) said he is doubtful for Game 4. Lin's knee did not respond as well to contact practice as he had hoped, and the point guard added that he has "no idea" if he'll be ready for Game 5. The Knicks continue to hold out hope that he'll be able to return, but it's becoming increasingly obvious that he's just not ready to return yet.

Jeremy Lin (knee) is still hoping to return in the first round against the Heat. Lin won't play in Thursday's Game 3, but he's targeting either Game 4 or 5 for a potential return. Mike Woodson made it clear that it's all dependent on how his knee responds to Wednesday's 3-on-3 workout, but the Knicks would be wise not to rush him back until he's 100 percent healthy and ready to return.

Jeremy Lin was playing 3-on-3 at Knicks practice on Wednesday. Lin was reportedly moving well, but 3-on-3 play shouldn't be taken as a sign that he's inching toward an imminent return. As of Tuesday, Lin still hadn't been cleared to take contact and he still hasn't reached the full six weeks since undergoing his initial arthroscopic surgery. He's also previously been ruled out for Thursday's Game 3.
