Jeremy Lin's preseason got off to a quiet start on Wednesday when he hit just 1-of-3 shots for three points and six assists in a loss to the Thunder. He also had three steals and three turnovers in his 20 minutes, and said after the game he didn't feel like himself out there. He's coming off knee surgery and is clearly not completely comfortable, but he's got time to work out the kinks in the preseason. He should be a quality No. 1 point guard if he can put his surgery completely behind him.

Despite a report in September when Jeremy Lin said he was 100 percent recovered from knee surgery, that no longer appears to be the case. "My speed and my explosiveness and my agility (are not) there yet," Lin said. "I'm still trying to recover from knee surgery and get to where I was pre-surgery. I probably won't get to play too much (preseason). Hopefully, as the preseason goes on I'll get to play more and more to build that endurance." This isn't too big a concern, but it does paint a different picture of Lin than we had a month ago. He should still be a top fantasy point guard in Houston, assuming that his knee and mindset are close to 100 percent when the season starts.

Jeremy Lin acknowledged that to reduce his turnovers he must refrain from jumping while passing, use "more deception and different angles" on passes," and improve his skills with his left hand. Lin averaged 4.7 turnovers in his 25 starts last season, a glaring cause for concern. He also talked about the need to make quicker decisions in the pick-and-roll, his poor efficiency in catch-and-shoot situations, and his efforts to improve one-on-one defensively. Jeremy Lin worked on "pattern recognition" as well as improving his left hand in the offseason. Specifically, Lin worked on understanding the "initial recognition" faster in order to improve. Lin's going to be tasked with setting up the offense and doing a lot for his Rockets team, and he knows it. Lin also worked on not getting caught in the air and admitted that he has to stay on the ground in order to "not get caught in bad situations." He also plans to cut down on his "lazy passes" and hopes the improvement with his left hand will bring him increased success.

Jeremy Lin lost 10 pounds this offseason, and said on Tuesday that his surgically-repaired knee is "good to go." Lin had surgery back in April, so he's had plenty of time to rehab, and he'll have the benefit of a full training camp with his new Rockets' teammates. Houston needs Lin to stay healthy all season, as their backup PG options are less than stellar -- Toney Douglas, Shaun Livingston, and rookie Scott Machado.

The Knicks have announced they will not match Houston's offer for PG Jeremy Lin, meaning he will be joining the Rockets, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday. Lin will join the Rockets on a three-year, $25.1 million deal and could slide right into the starting point guard role for Houston if he can beat out Toney Douglas for the job (and he should). The Knicks are going to get a backlash from Lin's fan base and the Rockets are going to be the new home of Linsanity, but the Knicks just thought that was too much money for a guy who would be their third-string point guard. As for his fantasy value in Houston, Lin should get plenty of minutes and production once again.

The Knicks are not expected to the Rockets' offer sheet for Jeremy Lin, according to Howard Beck of the New York Times. Beck writes that there is an "incredibly small" chance that the decision could be reversed, but Rockets GM Daryl Morey seems to have managed the unthinkable, prying Linsanity away from New York with a three-year, $25.1 million offer. Toney Douglas is the only other PG on the Rockets' roster right now, and Lin would play as many minutes as he can handle. An official decision will be announced later on Tuesday.

Despite signing an offer sheet with the Rockets, Jeremy Lin wants to return to the Knicks, a source tells the New York Post. We're really not reading into this report too much whatsoever. The source here is said to be a "confidant" of Lin's, and that could be a myriad of people all of which could be loosely connected to the point guard. Regardless of how Lin may feel, it's looking increasingly unlikely that New York will match Houston's offer for Linsanity.

The New York Times reports that it is still unclear whether the Knicks will match the Rockets' back-loaded offer for Jeremy Lin. At issue for New York are the luxury-tax ramifications of the $15 million salary they'd owe Lin in 2014-15, which "rival executives estimated ... [would cost] a total of $50 million to $60 million." New York didn't pay the tax last season, so they'll avoid the even steeper "repeater" tax, but could still be forced to pay $2.50 or more for every dollar they exceed the salary cap in 2014-15. According to back-of-the-envelope math, if the Knicks match Houston's offer they will have a whopping $77.3 million committed to just four players that season -- Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, and Lin. That's a very tough sell, even for free-spending owner James Dolan.

Marc J. Spears reports the Knicks will likely wait three days before declining to match the Rockets offer sheet for Jeremy Lin. Spears added the Knicks are "highly doubtful" to match the three-year deal. All signs continue pointing to Lin being a Rocket sooner rather than later.
