A bruised right thigh prevented Whiteside from practicing Wednesday, one day after he tallied his 38th double-double of the season in a win over the Pistons. The injury isn't believed to be anything that will cause Whiteside to miss significant time, and it's probably more likely than not that he suits up Thursday, considering the Heat are battling the Hawks, Celtics, and Hornets for two of the remaining bids for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The ailment is likely nothing serious, but the Heat will be cautious with Whiteside as the postseason approaches. The center, who notched his seventh double-double in nine games Tuesday, should be considered questionable heading into Thursday's meeting with Chicago.

It was Whiteside's fourth straight double-double as the Heat dominated the Pistons in pretty much every facet of the game Tuesday. Whiteside was able to get the best of Detroit's weak second unit. The Heat have a weak schedule to wrap up the season, so expect some more fireworks out of Whiteside prior to the playoffs.

Whiteside posted 20 points (6-14 FG, 8-11 FT), 13 rebounds, an assist, a steal and four blocks over 28 minutes in Saturday's 110-93 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Despite the disappointing outcome with respect to the final score, Whiteside dominated a vulnerable Blazers frontcourt to post his sixth double-double in the last eight games. He's also tallied multiple blocks in three straight, and has turned into a must-play despite his bench role. He's averaging 19.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.0 blocks over his last five games.

Whiteside finished with 18 points (6-8 FG, 6-12 FT), 17 rebounds, and seven blocks over 39 minutes in Wednesday's overtime loss to the Lakers.

EDGE Analysis

Whiteside was a beast yet again, wreaking havoc on both ends of the floor en route to his 36th double-double. He also swatted seven shots, the seventh time he's hit that total this season. The Heat are looking to lock up home court in the Playoffs so expect the third-year breakout big man to be firing on all cylinders down the stretch.

Whiteside scored 27 points (12-16 FG, 3-4 FT) while pulling down eight rebounds over 31 minutes in Monday's 110-99 win against the Nets.

Unfortunately Whiteside wasn't able to extend his double-double streak to five games, though it was his highest point total in 14 games during March. It was also just the second time all month that Whiteside failed to record double-digit boards and only the third game he failed to block more than two shots. In his last five games, Whiteside is shooting a ridiculous 71.7 percent from the field (43-60).

Whiteside went off for 26 points (10-15 FG, 6-7 FT), 12 rebounds, five blocks, and one steal in 29 minutes during the Heat's 108-97 win over the Magic on Friday.

Whiteside has turned in double-doubles during four straight games, and in 16 of 18 contests since the All-Star break. He is averaging 17.7 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks in 30 minutes during March.

Whiteside registered a double-double with 24 points (10-11 FG, 4-6 FT) and 14 rebounds while adding three blocks during 30 minutes in Tuesday's 113-99 win against the Pelicans.

Just another day in the life for Whiteside, who is becoming a fantasy basketball postseason legend since being banished to Miami's bench. He's posted a double-double in 14 of his last 16 games and had five or more blocks in four of those contests. Whiteside's averages off the bench are 15.8 points and 12.7 rebounds (three points and 1.5 rebounds higher than when he starts). Would it be crazy to think Whiteside is deserving of the sixth man award?
