Carroll popped up on the injury report Saturday after he reported feeling some soreness in his ankle following Friday's game against the Knicks. It appears that the ankle pain is lingering so the veteran forward will sit out Sunday evening's tilt against the Nuggets. With an additional two full days of rest, Carroll will look to return to the court Tuesday against the Suns.

The issue doesn't appear to be anything overly serious, but the Nets will nonetheless wait until shootaround Sunday to update Carroll's status.

Carroll accumulated 17 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Friday's 126-121 win over the Magic.

EDGE Analysis

Carroll was hot from beyond the arc Friday -- one of the strengths of his game (1.5 threes across 26.1 minutes per game last season). He's also cleaned the glass well through the team's first two contests, recording 17 total boards. If he can continue this sort of production while chipping in some steals here and there, Carroll could be looking at an improved fantasy season.

Carroll finished with 10 points (4-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and one steal across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 140-131 loss against the Pacers.

EDGE Analysis

Though Carroll connected on only one of his five three-point attempts, the volume is certainly encouraging from a fantasy perspective. His nine rebounds were also a nice touch, but he averaged just 3.8 last year, so it's tough to say whether or not he can continue crashing the glass at a high rate.

Carroll finished with nine points (4-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt), eight rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes during Thursday's 107-88 win over the Heat.

EDGE Analysis

Though Carroll shot poorly Thursday, he's rebounded well over the Nets' first two preseason games, posting a combined 16 boards in 44 minutes. He'll likely begin the season at small forward, though wasn't a great fantasy commodity last year, posting 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 threes, 1.1 steals and 1.0 assists per game.

Carroll will start at small forward for Tuesday's preseason opener against the Knicks, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Carroll is expected to battle both Allen Crabbe (ankle) and Caris LeVert (ankle) for rights to the starting small forward spot throughout the preseason, but both are currently out with injuries, so Carroll basically gets the start by default Tuesday. Once the other two are healthy, there's a good chance coach Kenny Atkinson rotates them in with the starters as well, so don't read too much into Carroll getting the first-team work Tuesday.

Carroll was traded to the Nets on Saturday in exchange for Justin Hamilton, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Raptors will also be sending a 2018 first-round pick and a 2018 second-round pick to the Nets, in what amounts to a salary dump by parting ways with Carroll. At 30 years old, Carroll will likely serve as Brooklyn's starting small forward in the short term while he serves out the final two years of his current contract. The veteran could have more scoring opportunities on a lackluster Nets roster than in previous years with the Raptors and even the Hawks, but there's legitimate reason to be concerned for extended time on the bench at some point, that is if the organization hopes to devote minutes to their younger players.

Carroll played six minutes in Sunday's 109-102 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 4, recording two points (1-2 FG), two rebounds and one assist.

EDGE Analysis

Carroll played just 10 total minutes in the last two games of the series, as his ineffectiveness over the Raptors' first eight contests of the postseason prompted coach Dwane Casey to go in a different direction at small forward. The veteran has been a major disappointment for the Raptors since inking a four-year, $58 million contract in 2015, but with two years remaining on his contract, it's expected that he'll see a prominent role in the rotation heading into 2017-18.

Carroll will move to the bench for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Cavaliers, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.

EDGE Analysis

Carroll has really struggled throughout the playoffs so far and was only able to muster three points and four rebounds as a starter in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday. That's prompted coach Dwane Casey to switch up his starting lineup, so Carroll and Jonas Valanciunas will head to the bench, with Norman Powell and Patrick Patterson working with the top unit. Carrol could see his minutes restricted to the teens for a third straight contest, which severely restricts his fantasy value.
