Collison (hamstring) will not play Saturday, James Ham of CSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the first we've heard of the issue, but Collison apparently sustained a hamstring injury during Friday's loss to Houston. The Kings have not announced who will start in his place, but Marco Belinelli would appear to be the favorite.

Collison contributed 22 points (7-16 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine assists, and two steals in 31 minutes during the Kings' 116-110 loss Friday versus the Rockets.
EDGE Analysis
After starting Wednesday's contest versus the Suns, Collison returned to his regular reserve role on Friday versus the Rockets, but still delivered his best showing of the season. The Kings went small a lot given DeMarcus Cousins' absence from the lineup, but Collison was already averaging 30 minutes per game, a trend that could easily continue if he keeps up this level of play. The Kings are back in action on Saturday versus the Warriors.

Collison moved into the starting lineup Wednesday against the Suns, finishing with 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 FT), six assists, one rebound, and four turnovers over 32 minutes.
EDGE Analysis
Collison replaced Ben McLemore, who was banished to the bench after providing just 4.3 points per game over the Kings' first four contests. Though McLemore was limited to just 14 minutes in Wednesday's game, Collison had already been outpacing him for playing time while coming off the bench, so his ascension into the starting lineup shouldn't result in a dramatic uptick in production. Over five games, Collison is averaging 14.6 points, 4.4 assists, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals over 30.4 minutes per contest.

Collison posted 18 points (4-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 7-8 FT) to go with one rebound, one assist, and one steal in 31 minutes of action Tuesday against the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Collison has managed to maintain solid numbers in spite of his bench role this season, averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 threes per game. He probably won't crack the starting lineup unless Rajon Rondo gets hurt, but he's still worth owning in 12-man leagues or deeper.

Collison scored 15 points (6-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with six assists and three rebounds in 35 minutes off the bench during Saturday's loss to the Clippers.
EDGE Analysis
DeMarcus Cousins strained his Achilles in the second quarter and Ben McLemore played an ineffective 10 minutes on the night, so coach George Karl ended up using a two-point guard lineup for much of the second half. There's no indication yet that Collison will enter the starting lineup, but even on the second unit he's averaged 14.0 points and 5.0 assists in 29.7 minutes through the first three games of the season.

Collison scored 16 points (3-9 FG, 10-10 FT) and handed out seven assists in a 107-100 win over the Lakers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The young guard is one of the biggest fantasy conundrums coming into the season, as he has all the talent in the world, but is in an unknown role. With the offseason addition of Rajon Rondo, it would appear that Collison will be coming off the bench for this Kings, even though he is one of their five best players. With the role up in limbo, his fantasy value is right up there with it. His 16.1 point and 5.6 assist averages from last season will surely regress in his current bench role.

Collison, whose past season ended in March after he underwent core muscle surgery, said that he's 100 percent recovered and feels his healthiest in years, Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports. "This injury was something I had since my Indiana years," Collison said. "This is going back three or four years ago. My doctor said I should have had surgery back then, but I just happened to have it [last March]. I've actually been playing hurt the last three years, I just didn't know it."
EDGE Analysis
Collison was one of the Kings' more acclaimed offseason acquisitions heading into last season, and although he was able to record a career-best 16.1 points per game on a respectable 47.3 percent shooting mark, the injury limited him to just 45 games. With Collison justifiably optimistic about his health outlook following the surgery, he'll again be positioned to play a key role for the team, though he's more likely to see time off the ball following the Kings' signing of point guard Rajon Rondo. Collison has previous experience playing the two-guard spot during his time alongside Chris Paul in Los Angeles and has a capable shot from three-point range, so he seems capable of making the adjustment. However, the move to shooting guard likely hurts him from a fantasy perspective, as last season's average of 5.6 assists per game are almost certain to take a hit with Rondo now assuming most of the ball-handling duties.

Collison missed the final 43 games of the regular season after surgery to repair a core muscle injury in his hip ended his season. He was still productive in 45 games as the Kings' starting point guard, finishing with averages of a career-high 16.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists in in 35 minutes per game. He is still under contract with Sacramento for the next two seasons.
This was the first time since the 2010-11 season that Collison was a team's full-time starter, but unfortunately for he and the Kings, Collison's was cut far shorter than expected. While it is possible the point guard could have returned before season's end, the team was so far out of the playoff picture, that they likely stayed cautious. Despite this, when Collison was healthy, he was effective, recording three double-doubles and 10-plus points and eight-plus assists in 15 games on the year. He played consistently all year and failed to scored in double figures in just three games where he played a full workload. Going forward, it appears as though Collison will be the Kings' point guard of the near future, as the team looks to finally make a return to the playoffs behind him along side DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. Not to mention that Sacramento is getting Collison for a good price (owed just over $10 million total for the next two years) given the very solid production he is giving them.

Collison (hip) will miss approximately six weeks after undergoing successful surgery Tuesday, NBA.com reports.
The procedure repaired a core muscle injury, and Collison will undertake rehabilitation immediately. If he's unable to return this season, Ray McCallum and Andre Miller will man the point for the remainder of the current campaign.
