Starting point guard Spencer Dinwiddie wasn't battling any foul trouble, but coach Kenny Atkinson elected to restrict his playing time while the Nets fell behind by 17 after three quarters. Chiozza and several other reserves picked up added playing time in the fourth as a result, and Atkinson continued to ride those players after the Nets mounted a big comeback to extend the game to overtime. Expect Chiozza's playing time to take a big hit Wednesday against the Grizzlies, as Dinwiddie had been averaging 32.4 minutes in his prior 11 games since re-entering the starting five in place of Kyrie Irving (shoulder).

Chiozza had another strong game as he continues to be a factor in every aspect of the game. Since joining Long Island, the 24-year-old's led the team to a 4-2 record and is averaging 16.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 32.8 minutes.

Chiozza accounted for 26 points (10-20 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes during Firday's win over Maine.

EDGE Analysis

Chiozza's clearly taken control of Long Island's offense, having now led the team in points in back-to-back contests, while notching his first double-double of the season Friday. Unless Long Island adds another guard or decides to hand the reigns to Jalen Hands, Chiozza should get as much work as he can handle.

Chiozza posted 14 points (6-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists, four rebounds and four steals in 31 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Mad Ants.

Chiozza managed a solid line despite turning the ball over a whopping six times during Wednesday's defeat. Apart from his slight struggle with ball protection, the 24-year-old guard's been terrific since joining Long Island. Over three games with the Nets' G League affiliate, Chiozza's contributing 10.6 points, 6.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 steals in 31.5 minutes per game.

Chiozza accounted for nine points (3-13 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight assists, four rebounds and four steals in 37 minutes Wednesday against the Drive.

In his first G League contest for the Nets organization, Chiozza powered through an off night from the field to post a solid all-around line. The 24-year-old has struggled with his shot throughout the year as he made just 29.4 percent of his looks in 12 games with the Wizards at the NBA level and a mere 32.8 percent of his chances in 10 games with their G League affiliate. Chiozza figures to see significant minutes for Long Island over the next couple of months as he continues to work on his efficiency.

Chiozza signed a two-way contract with the Nets on Saturday, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Washington rewarded Chiozza by converting his deal to a two-way contract in October, and he averaged 12.7 minutes in 10 games at the NBA level before being waived in mid-December.
