Chiozza will start at point guard in Tuesday's game against Minnesota, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports.

With Brooklyn dealing with absences from Kyrie Irving (personal), James Harden (hamstring) and Tyler Johnson (knee), Chiozza will step in for his first start of the season. Over the last five games, the 25-year-old has posted averages of 4.2 points, 2.6 assists and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Chiozza recorded 12 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), eight assists, two rebounds and one steal in a 139-111 win over the Pelicans on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Chiozza played 18 minutes in a blowout win, thanks in part to James Harden (hamstring) missing Wednesday's contest. The second-year point guard hasn't received consistent minutes all season and has struggled shooting, likely because of the up-and-down minutes. As the end of the regular season nears, Chiozza could see a short-term bump in minutes as long as Harden is sidelined.

Chiozza tallied 10 points (4-16 FG, 2-9 3Pt), 11 assists and two steals across 28 minutes in a loss to the Jazz on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

With Brooklyn missing most of its starters, Chiozza was handed a season-high 28 minutes of playing time. He didn't shoot well but flashed his skills as a passer with a career-best 11 dimes. The third-year guard isn't going to see anywhere near this much action once his more-heralded teammates return to the court, so it' wouldn't be wise to chase Chiozza on the waiver wire in your fantasy league no matter how desperate you are for assists.

Chiozza was listed as inactive in Saturday's loss against Rio Grande.

EDGE Analysis

Chiozza has yet to play for Long Island this season, and it's not clear when he'll make his debut for the team -- if he does it at all. He averaged 12.0 points per game during the 2019-20 G League season, though, so he should provide an offensive boost for Long Island if he ends up being available at some point in the campaign.

Nets head coach Steve Nash said Sunday that he expects Chiozza to remain with Brooklyn instead of joining the Long Island Nets when the G League season begins in Orlando on Feb. 10, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Though Long Island previously listed Chiozza and fellow two-way player Reggie Perry as members of its roster at the G League bubble at the Walt Disney World complex, both appear poised to remain with the NBA team, presumably due to Brooklyn's lack of depth. Chiozza has a less clear path to playing time at the NBA level than Perry, who has been working as a backup to starting center DeAndre Jordan of late. Chiozza, meanwhile, has played only eight minutes in total over the Nets' past nine contests.

The G League's Long Island Nets announced Wednesday that Chiozza will be a member of its 12-man roster for the 2020-21 G League season in Orlando.

Brooklyn will send both of its two-way players to the G League bubble, as big man Reggie Perry was also transferred to the affiliate. Chiozza's assignment to Long Island doesn't come as a major surprise, given that he played three total minutes over Brooklyn's last six contests.

Chiozza scored 14 points (5-14 FG, 3-8 3PT, 1-2 FT) to go with four assists and one rebound across 27 minutes in a 116-111 overtime loss to Memphis on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

The two-way guard scored five points in a close fourth quarter to help send Monday's contest to overtime. Chiozza wouldn't contribute much offensively in the extra period shooting 0-for-3 from the field to close the game. The 25-year-old showed promise in his first appearance for Brooklyn this year and will likely be seen more during games in which Kyrie Irving is resting, especially after the season-ending injury to Spencer Dinwiddie.

Chiozza re-signed Tuesday with the Nets on a one-year, two-way contract.

EDGE Analysis

After his two-way contract with the Nets expired during the offseason, Chiozza re-signed with Brooklyn on a training-camp deal. Though Chiozza was waived over the weekend, the Nets ultimately elected to bring the point guard back to fill the two-way spot occupied by Jeremiah Martin, who was was waived in a corresponding move. Rookie second-round pick Reggie Perry will occupy the Nets' other tow-way spot heading into Tuesday's season opener versus the Warriors.

EDGE Analysis

Chiozza found himself decent minutes last season between the Wizards and Nets, averaging 5.1 points, 3.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 14.3 minutes. However, he saw just nine minutes in the 2020 preseason, and Brooklyn has opted to use the roster spot differently. It's possible he gets picked up elsewhere for NBA minutes, but a G League job is also a possibility.
