Nicholson signed a contract Saturday with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After spending his first five seasons in the professional ranks in the NBA, Nicholson headed to China last September after failing to attract much interest from North American club. Over 46 games for the Guangdong Southern Tigers, Nicholson averaged 22.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.5 minutes per contest, establishing himself as one of the CBA's top stars. He'll join a new team in 2018-19 with the hope of attracting renewed interest from the NBA when the CBA campaign comes to a close.

Nicholson has agreed to a one-year, $1.7 million deal with the Guangdong Tigers of China, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholson will opt to play overseas after being waived by Portland in late August following his trade there via the Nets. He appeared in just 38 games last season between Brooklyn and Washington during 2016-17, posting 2.6 points and 1.6 boards across 9.0 minutes per game. While he hasn't put together a fantasy-relevant season so far in his career, it's possible he could attempt to make a return to the NBA sooner than later considering he's only been a pro for five seasons.

Nicholson was officially waived by the Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholson came over from Brooklyn as a throw-in in the Allen Crabbe trade, and the expectation all along was that he'd be waived. Portland ultimately waited more than a month to make the move, and Nicholson will now become an unrestricted free agent. The St. Bonaventure product will look to catch on with another team during training camp, but at this point his options will be limited.

Nicholson was traded Tuesday to the Trail Blazers for Allen Crabbe and will be waived, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholson has struggled to become a key rotation player throughout his entire five-year NBA career, and he now hasn't started a game since the 2014-15 season. The former St. Bonaventure star appeared in just 38 games between the Wizards and Nets last season and will now be on the open market. Unfortunately for Nicholson, he hasn't shown much in terms of being an NBA-caliber player, and may take some time in either the G League or overseas.

Nicholson tallied two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound across two minutes in a 122-104 loss to the Thunder on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Since being acquired from the Wizards at the trade deadline, Nicholson's appearances with the Nets have been largely limited to garbage time. He's played in three games with his new club, averaging 3.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per contest. It's unlikely that he'll emerge as a mainstay in the rotation over the final month of the season.

Nicholson and a 2017 first-round pick will be sent from the Wizards to the Nets on Wednesday in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The real asset in this deal for the Nets is the first-round pick, as Nicholson hasn't been much of a contributor during the 2016-17 campaign. Nicholson has averaged a meager 8.3 minutes per game and is heading into a power forward situation in Brooklyn that already has the likes of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Trevor Booker, Justin Hamilton and Quincy Acy. That likely means Nicholson will be stuck in a minor role yet again ,which means he could continue to struggle for minutes.

Nicholson played three minutes in a 120-98 win over the Thunder on Monday, recording no points and missing his only shot attempt from the field.
EDGE Analysis
It was Nicholson's first appearance in six games, and the fact that it came in garbage time of a blowout illustrates how limited his role has become with the Wizards. It appears he's no better than fifth in the pecking order of Wizards big men behind Marcin Gortat, Markieff Morris, Ian Mahinmi and Jason Smith.

Nicholson (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in a 120-101 win over the Trail Blazers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Wizards cruised to a 25-point lead at halftime, which allowed coach Scott Brooks to give his bench players some more run, but since both Nicholson and Marcus Thornton are veterans who probably wouldn't benefit much from garbage-time minutes, both were spared from finishing out the game. Nicholson has made only two appearances in the Wizards' eight January games and doesn't look to be making any progress in his attempt to claim a consistent rotation role.

Nicholson played seven minutes in Saturday's 112-100 loss to the Spurs, posting two points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one rebound.
EDGE Analysis
In addition, Nicholson picked up three fouls along the way, perhaps diminishing his chances of seeing more extended run after starting power forward Markieff Morris was ejected in the third quarter upon receiving a double technical. Morris will be back in the fold for Monday's game against the Kings, and with Ian Mahinmi (knee) returning to the Wizards frontcourt to play 14 minutes in his season debut Saturday, it looks as though Nicholson's spot in the team's rotation could be in jeopardy. The former first-round pick is already averaging 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in just 11.2 minutes per game, all of which are career lows.

Nicholson generated 19 points (7-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, two steals and one assist across 26 minutes in Tuesday's 96-91 preseason win over the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
It was uncertain heading into training camp whether or not Nicholson would hold see regular minutes once the season began, but with Ian Mahinmi (back) out for four-to-six weeks, the 26-year-old looks to have solidified a spot in coach Scott Brooks' rotation. Even if Mahinmi was fully healthy, Nicholson may have forced the issue anyway, as he's been spectacular over the last three preseason contests. He's averaged 16.3 points (on 60% shooting from the field), 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 treys and 1.0 steal across 29.3 minutes per game during that span.
