Davies hurled 6.1 scoreless innings against Colorado on Saturday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander submitted his finest effort of the campaign thus far, pitching beyond the fifth inning for the first time and holding the Rockies scoreless while racking up 14 swinging strikes. Unfortunately for Davies, opposing starter Kyle Freeland matched him in putting goose eggs on the board, leaving both hurlers to settle for a no-decision. Nonetheless, this was a promising outing for Davies, who hasn't allowed an earned run over his past two starts covering 11.1 frames. That has lowered his ERA, which stood at 5.40 through four starts, to a much more appealing 3.34 overall.

Davies allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
A one-out error by Ketel Marte ultimately allowed two runs to come across the plate in the third inning. Davies left the game in line for the win, but the Diamondbacks' bullpen couldn't maintain the lead. The right-hander won't see any damage added to his ratios after this start -- he has a 4.24 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 16:11 K:BB through 23.1 innings across five outings. He lines up for a home start versus the Rockies next weekend.

Davies didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts in four innings.
EDGE Analysis
Davies got off to a rocky start, surrendering a bases-clearing double to Will Smith in the first inning, but was able to limit the damage to those three runs despite heavy traffic on the bases, and Arizona rebounded to eventually win the game. The eight baserunners increased the 29-year-old's WHIP to 1.47 -- a bottom 10 mark -- and he likely won't be able to strand as many runners as he did Tuesday. He's tentatively scheduled to toe the rubber on Sunday in St. Louis for his next start.

Davies (1-1) allowed two hits, two runs and two walked while recording seven strikeouts over five innings in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Davies bounced back nicely after getting pummeled by the Mets six days ago. The Diamondbacks are Davies' third team in three seasons after one-year stints with the Padres and Cubs, and his work n the Cactus League ensured him a spot in Arizona's rotation this season. His seven strikeouts are an encouraging metric for the 29-year-old veteran.

Davies (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Mets, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits in 4.1 innings of work, striking out two while walking one.
EDGE Analysis
Davies managed just one scoreless inning in his second start of the year. Pete Alonso drove in runs with sacrifice flies in both the first and third innings, while Robinson Cano hit a solo shot in the fourth and Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Davies now owns a 5.79 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through two outings, striking out four and walking four. He'll look to turn things around in his next outing, which lines up to come Wednesday in Washington.

Davies didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Padres after allowing two runs on four hits and three walks across five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Davies was just three outs away from posting a quality start in an outing during which 43 of his 75 pitches went for strikes. He's looking to rebound from a 2021 season in which he posted a 5.78 ERA across 32 starts with the Cubs, and while he was far from perfect in this one and recorded more walks than strikeouts, it was still a decent performance as he limited the damage. Davies is expected to make his next start against the Mets next week.

Davies allowed three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three over three innings in Tuesday's spring training start against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Davies made his Cactus League debut after the Diamondbacks signed him one week ago and started against the team for which he made 32 starts in 2021. There's enough time in spring training for one more start, so the right-hander may not build up enough pitches for the first turn of the rotation in the regular season, although he could be used as a game opener or in a piggyback role. Davies is the leading candidate to claim the No. 5 starter job.

Davies threw two innings in a simulated game Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks inked Davies earlier in the week, and the right-hander is a frontrunner for the final spot in the rotation, provided he can build up innings and pitch counts by the first week of the season. He had a career-worst year with the Cubs in 2021, posting a 5.78 ERA and 1.52 K/BB ratio over 32 starts, while also tying for the NL lead in walks (75). His track record prior to 2021 -- 3.79 ERA (114 ERA+) across six seasons -- is what Arizona found attractive. The Diamondbacks appear to have the first four rotation slots set, but Zac Gallen (shoulder) might not be ready for the first turn. Davies joins a long list of candidates in the mix for the fifth starter job and whatever time Gallen needs to get ready. Tyler Gilbert, Taylor Widener, Caleb Smith, Corbin Martin, Dan Straily and Humberto Castellanos are also being considered.

Davies agreed Tuesday with the Diamondbacks on a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Heyman, the deal includes a club option for 2023, potentially locking Davies in with Arizona for two years if he impresses during his first season in the desert. With 155 career MLB starts to his name, Davies was one of the more experienced rotation options on the open market, though the 5.78 ERA (5.03 xFIP) and career-worst 5.8 K-BB% he turned in over 148 innings with the Cubs in 2021 doesn't make him especially appealing for fantasy purposes. He'll still likely be in strong position to enter the season as the No. 4 or 5 pitcher in the Diamondbacks' rotation, provided his delayed signing doesn't affect his ability to build up his pitch count over the final two weeks of spring training.

Davies won't pitch during this weekend's series against the Cardinals, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davies' final turn through the rotation lined up for Friday's series opener, but he'll instead shut things down after discussing it with the team. The 28-year-old struggled during his first season with the Cubs, posting a 5.78 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 114:75 K:BB over 148 innings, and he's poised to hit free agency during the offseason.
