Davies ended a streak of his six straight outings allowing three or fewer runs, and he also failed to complete at least five innings since the beginning of May, so this was certainly an outing he'd like to forget as soon as possible. After a rough April Davies has been much better in May, allowing five runs across five starts.

Davies turned in a so-so performance, as he wasn't able to miss a ton of Washington bats, which has been a theme this season. The righty now has just 23 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched to go along with a 5.58 ERA. Those numbers aren't going to grab the attention of fantasy managers, and they're a ways off from the 2.73 ERA and 8.2 K/9 Davies posted for San Diego last season. He'll look for better results and a return to the win column his next time out Sunday against the Cardinals.

It's a far cry from the 2.73 ERA Davies posted in 2020, and considering he's part of the return Chicago received for Yu Darvish, he'll need to pitch a lot better to endear himself to Cubs fans and fantasy managers. He'll look to turn things around in his next outing, which is scheduled for Saturday against the Reds.
