San Diego has not yet announced its starter for Saturday, though it stands to reason that Chris Paddack will take the mound that day on regular rest.

Davies will likely be caught by Austin Hedges, as he benefited greatly last year from having an excellent framer (Yasmani Grandal) behind the plate for most of his starts with the Brewers. He will need to hold his own in the early going to avoid getting replaced in the rotation, as the Padres have several young arms coming up behind him.

He'll at least benefit from a change in home field from hitter-friendly Miller Park to the more forgiving Petco Park, which should aid Davies' chances of delivering another sub-4.00 ERA in 2020.

Davies is not on the Brewers' wild-card roster.
