It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined with the ailment, but he's set to miss at least one turn in the rotation before he's eligible for activation (Aug. 26). In the meantime, Brock Stewart is expected to fill in for him in the rotation while he's sidelined.

Darvish allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk through six innings Wednesday against the White Sox. He struck out two and didn't factor into the decision.

Expect another hefty strikeout total when Darvish takes on a subpar White Sox lineup in his home debut Wednesday.

With few other high-impact arms believed to be available at the deadline, the Rangers could generate plenty of interest if they're committed to dealing Darvish, who struck out a season-high 12 batters his last time out Friday.
