Darvish was moved to the 10-day disabled list Monday with parainfluenza virus.
EDGE Analysis
This move is retroactive to Friday, so Darvish will be eligible to return starting May 14. He's struggled to begin the 2018 season, posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP despite striking out 37 across 30 innings. Darvish will have to wait a bit longer before attempting to collect his first win of the year.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said there are no plans to reunite Darvish with Chris Gimenez, who is currently with Triple-A Iowa, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish and Gimenez worked together in Texas, and many thought the latter would make the Opening Day roster as a veteran backup to Willson Contreras. However, the Cubs went with Victor Caratini behind Contreras, keeping the Darvish-Gimenez reunion from happening. Maddon was adamant that Darvish's struggles (6.00 ERA, 1.57 WHIP through six starts) have nothing to do with who's been behind the plate. "Two games ago (against the Brewers), everybody thought it was a nice combo, then Yu had a tough time and now it's the catcher's fault," Maddon said. "It has nothing to do with the catcher." Maddon said instead he wants Darish, who is known for his large repertoire of pitches, to focus on simplifying his approach.

Darvish (0-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out eight over 4.1 innings against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The eight strikeouts in just 4.1 innings were nice -- and gives him 37 in 30 innings on the season -- but it was otherwise another concerning performance. Darvish got taken deep three times and failed to make it out of the fifth inning for the fourth time in six starts. There are several causes for concern at this point -- the 6.00 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 4.8 BB/9 to name a few -- but it's still too early to hit the panic button. He'll look to right the ship with a more favorable matchup against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Darvish (0-2) did not factor in the decision, but recorded eight strikeouts and allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks in Friday's win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was in line for his first victory of the season when he exited after six innings, but the Brewers tied the game in the seventh, only for the Cubs to take the lead back for good in the bottom of the inning. The 31-year-old has been rocky to start the season (5.26 ERA and 1.44 WHIP), but has allowed only two runs (one earned) and five hits in his two starts (12 innings) against Milwaukee thus far. Darvish is next slated to take the mound Wednesday against the Rockies at Wrigley Field.

Darvish (0-2) allowed five earned runs on five hits while walking four and striking out four across 4.2 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish didn't allow a home run but was inefficient, falling behind in the count to 12 of the 23 batters that came to the plate Saturday. The end result was that he was pulled after 4.2 innings having thrown 98 pitches. Inefficiency has been a major problem for him to begin the season as he has failed to work at least five innings in three of his four starts and has a 5.09 BB/9. This is reasonable cause for concern, but Darvish's track record is long enough that owners shouldn't panic about his early season struggles just yet.

Darvish (0-1) lasted just 4.2 innings Wednesday against the Braves, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks to take the loss. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The majority of the damage came on a three-run homer off the bat of Preston Tucker in the fifth inning, though a run also scored earlier in the frame on a wild pitch. Darvish has now allowed a home run in each of his three starts and has a 6.00 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP on the season, which is certainly not what Cubs fans hoped for when the team brought him in on a lucrative six-year deal over the offseason. He'll look to right the ship in his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Darvish allowed just a single run over six innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Brewers. He gave up two hits and a walk, while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The only blemish for Darvish was a solo home run by Eric Thames in the fourth inning, as he dominated for most of the afternoon. Unfortunately for Darvish and his fantasy owners, Milwaukee starter Zach Davies was just as stingy, which kept Darvish from being able to grab his first win in a Cubs uniform. He'll take the mound again Friday against the Braves, and if he pitches like this again, he'll have a great opportunity to get into the win column.

Darvish's next start has been moved from Friday to Saturday, but will still be against the Brewers, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Due to Tuesday's game against the Reds being postponed, the Cubs' rotation has been pushed back a day. Darvish will have an extra day to rest as he prepares for his upcoming matchup against Milwaukee and looks to improve on a rough season debut, in which he allowed five runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings.

Darvish went 4.1 innings Saturday against the Marlins, allowing five earned runs on five hits and two walks in a no-decision. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
After posting a 2.79 ERA across 19.1 innings in spring training, this was not the start to the regular season that Darvish was hoping for. The right-hander gave up a two-run home run to Derek Dietrich two batters into the game, which set the tone for the night. Darvish was able to keep the Marlins off the board over the next three innings, but he got into trouble again in the fifth and ultimately got pulled after 102 pitches. He'll look for better results in his next start, which is slated for Friday in Milwaukee.

Darvish finished his first spring training in a Cubs uniform with a 2.79 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 19.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs made a big splash in signing Darvish during the offseason and the prized righty looked like an ace this spring. He'll slot in as the Cubs' No. 3 starter behind Jon Lester and Kyle Hendricks out of the gates, but he could very well end up as the team's top pitcher from a fantasy perspective if he stays healthy.
