Alonso is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest with Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso is missing just his second start in the A's last 12 as Danny Valencia replaces him at first and bats cleanup. Alonso has been striking the ball well of late, collecting four multi-hit games in his last eight, slashing .357/.379/.607 during that time.

Alonso is out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso went 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI during Thursday's game against the Angles, but will get his first day off since July 25 for Friday's interleague affair. He will be replaced by Danny Valencia at first, who is batting in the third spot of the order.

Alonso hit a two-run home run in a 2-for-4 game Tuesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso hit just one home run and slugged a brutal .361 in July. He'll need to hit for more power in August to justify remaining in the lineup at first base. His .672 OPS ranks worst among 26 qualified major league first basemen even after Tuesday's performance.

Alonso will make his fifth straight start at first base Sunday against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso had begun to lose out on playing time shortly after the All-Star break with the A's working in Danny Valencia more frequently at first base, but since Valencia is one of the top trade targets from contending clubs prior to Monday's non-waiver deadline, the A's have been using him judiciously. Assuming Valencia is dealt by Monday, Alonso should be in line for everyday at-bats the rest of the way, though the below-average power he brings to his position makes him one of the lower-rung fantasy first basemen.

Alonso is out of the lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso will get a regular day off Thursday, as Danny Valencia gets the nod at first base. The 29-year-old has been playing well recently, notching three multi-hit games during his last nine starts and is hitting .256/.324/.356 on the season.

Alonso is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The Athletics have cooled on the idea of playing Danny Valencia regularly at third base, but since his bat still warrants everyday duties, he'll likely start to see most of his time at first base and DH. That could result in Alonso losing out on more at-bats, hindering his value in AL-only formats.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI during Thursday's 3-1 win over Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso made all the difference Thursday, giving Oakland the lead with an RBI double in the second and capping off the scoring with an infield single in the ninth. It's been a pretty lackluster season for Alsonso, who is hitting .249 with 24 RBI on the season, and he will likely hope to build a little momentum heading into the second half of the season.

Alsono was 1-for-3 with his second homer Wednesday night against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso has quietly turned around his season a bit, hitting .325 in June after hitting only .209 over the first two months of season. The surge has only been accompanied with only one homer in June, but with five doubles also, he has managed to post a .798 OPS for the month. With two homers and only 20 RBI on the season in 236 at-bats. Alonso does not provide nearly enough pop to man a corner infield in a fantasy lineup except for deep or only leagues, but he does provide small value in those leagues for a team desperate for some batting average help if he can keep up his recent work.

Alonso is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso's day off comes in the midst of one of his hottest stretches of the season, as he had produced multi-hit efforts in five of his past six starts. However, with southpaw John Lamb starting for the Reds, the Athletics will aim to limit the amount of lefty bats in their lineups, and thus, the right-handed hitting Billy Butler will replace Alonso at first base.
