May (arm) has been confirmed as the starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the White Sox, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. May was removed from his last start after taking a liner off his elbow, but the setback will not prevent him from taking the mound Thursday. May and his Twins teammates will square off against the White Sox and starter Chris Sale.

May (arm) played long toss Monday and reported feeling 100 percent, Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North reports. May was removed from Saturday's contest after getting hit in the arm by a line drive, but he's reporting that it's no longer an issue and that he'll be able to continue his normal routine. At this point, it appears as though he'll be able to make his scheduled start Thursday against the White Sox.

May is listed as day-to-day after leaving Saturday's game with a contusion on his right elbow. He was taken out of the game immediately, so his status for the future remained unclear. May pitched 3.1 innings before getting taken out with the injury. With May now being listed as day-to-day, he could possibly be back in the rotation for his next start.

May left Saturday's game against Seattle in the fourth inning after getting hit in his right arm by a line drive back to the mound. May was gave up two runs over 3.1 innings with five strikeouts before departing. The line drive appeared to hit him between his elbow and forearm on his pitching hand. He was able to make a throw to first base for an out so the injury may not be serious, but wasn't able to stay in the game.

May gave up one run over six innings with four strikeouts and no walks to improve to 1-1 in Sunday's victory over Cleveland. May bounced back after a rough first start (5 ER in 5.1 IP) with perhaps the best start of his major league career. It's not clear if May will stick in the rotation when Ricky Nolasco returns from the DL in late April, but May will have a few more starts to make a case he shouldn't be sent to the minors.

May took the loss Monday against the Royals, giving up five runs on eight hits and a walk, striking out four. The one walk was an intentional walk just before exiting the game. It's shocking that all five runs were earned, as the Twins' defense was awful behind him before he got the hook. The control was a bright spot - before the intentional walk, 54 of his 74 pitches were strikes. He'll get another start this weekend against the Indians and is slated to pitch again next week too, with Ricky Nolasco on the DL.

May will be recalled from Triple-A to join the Minnesota rotation in place of injured Rick Nolasco, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Nolasco hurt his right elbow in his first start and appears headed for the DL. May had an ugly 7.88 ERA in seven big league starts but did have a 8.7 K/9 rate. He had a strong year at Triple-A last season with a 2.84 ERA and 8.6 K/9.

May was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. May lost out on the No. 5 spot in the Twins' rotation to Tommy Milone, while fellow competitor Mike Pelfrey was dispatched to the bullpen. The 25-year-old May entered last season as one of the organization's top pitching prospects, but faltered in his first exposure to the majors late last season, compiling a 7.88 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 45.2 innings. Though the assignment back to the minors likely qualifies as a disappointment, May should be considered one of the first candidates to join the Twins in the event one of their five starters succumbs to injury or ineffectiveness.
