Ted Lilly allowed four runs over five innings Wednesday in a rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Lilly wasn't exactly sharp, yielding five hits and three walks, but he felt no discomfort in his rib cage and is hoping to return to the Dodgers' rotation next week. The Dodgers were aggressive with Zack Greinke (clavicle) and might as well be aggressive with Lilly.

Ted Lilly (rib cage) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.
Lilly threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues. He shouldn't need more than a start or two to get ready and would be an option to replace Josh Beckett (groin) if a DL move is needed for the righty.

Ted Lilly (rib cage) is likely to begin a rehab assignment this week.
Lilly threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues and is ready to test things out in a game. "I think Teddy's feeling pretty good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "He's not feeling anything with his neck or his side right now. So we're moving where we want to go with him."

Ted Lilly (rib cage) threw a bullpen session Sunday.
Lilly tossed about 45 pitches and reported no issues with his rib cage. He was given a cortisone shot last week and it seems to have done the trick. The left-handed starter should be good to go within the next 7-10 days.

Ted Lilly (rib cage) will throw a bullpen session Saturday.
Lilly was able to resume a throwing program after he felt some improvement following a cortisone shot earlier this week. He'll likely need to be sent on a rehab assignment before becoming an option for the Dodgers.

Dodgers placed LHP Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 30, with rib cage discomfort.
Lilly experienced tightness in his back during Tuesday's start against the Mets. He experienced some improvement when given a cortisone shot earlier in the week, but didn't improve enough to make his scheduled start on Saturday. Matt Magill will start in his place on Saturday, and presumably occupy his spot in the rotation until Lilly is able to return.

Ted Lilly received an injection in his rib cage on Tuesday and will be shut down for two days.
Lilly felt discomfort in his rib cage area during Monday's start. He also dealt with neck and back tightness, though the issues are not related. The Dodgers are hopeful he'll make enough progress over the next few days so that he can start Saturday against the Giants, but Matt Magill will fill in if he can't go.

Ted Lilly will undergo an MRI on his back/neck on Tuesday.
The area got progressively tighter on Lilly during Monday's start, when he allowed five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits and two walks over just three innings. The Dodgers are suddenly very thin in their rotation, so they're certainly hoping Lilly won't have to miss a start.

Ted Lilly was pasted for five runs - four earned -- on eight hits and two walks over just three innings in Monday's loss to the Rockies.
Lilly served up a leadoff homer to Dexter Fowler to start the game and then was taken deep by Wilin Rosario later in the inning. The Dodgers' trainer came out to check on him in the third with the bases loaded, but he was left in and walked the next batter to force in a run. Lilly pitched well in his first start off the DL, but tonight's effort was certainly a step back. He'll try to rebound later this week in San Francisco.
