Wright (knee) threw two innings in a simulated game Friday, per Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald and will be activated from the disabled list Saturday, per Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Alex Cora said after Wright makes a few appearances, he will not be afraid to use the knuckleballer in high-leverage situations. "He's a guy, when he's on, he's really good, he's a change of pace, too - it's interesting to say the least," said Cora. "He'll get his innings." The Red Sox could use the added supply of arms. The bullpen has faltered recently with Boston's relievers ranking 19th in ERA (4.03) over the last two weeks.

Wright (knee) walked one and struck out one over two innings for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Wright made his first rehab appearance since landing on the disabled list in late June. The knuckleballer started the game and threw 31 pitches. Considering Wright put a lot of stress on the knee in the first half when Boston put him in the starting rotation, we're expecting Wright to be used in shorter stints out of the bullpen as a long reliever.

Wright (knee) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright, who has been on the DL since late June with left knee inflammation, is finally ready for game action after successfully throwing a 35-pitch live batting practice session over the weekend. He'll likely need multiple rehab appearances before rejoining the Red Sox given how long he's been on the shelf. Once healthy, Wright will assume a role in Boston's bullpen.

Wright (knee) threw 35 pitches in a live batting practice session Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright hit the disabled list in late June with left knee inflammation. He's been gradually working his way back, throwing bullpen sessions and simulated games, but will need a rehab assignment before returning to Boston.

Wright (knee) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming everything goes off without a hitch, Wright could be cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment shortly thereafter. Once Wright is cleared to return, he's expected to fill a relief role. The veteran knuckleballer compiled a 2.25 ERA across 16 innings of relief earlier in the year.

Wright (knee) threw a two-inning simulated game Saturday and could soon be ready for a minor-league rehab assignment, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Alex Cora noted that Wright will need to complete at least one more live batting-practice session at some point during the Red Sox's four-game series with Cleveland early this week before heading to the minors. Cora also relayed that the Red Sox are preparing knuckleballer for a bullpen role upon his return, as the team will soon have five healthy starters with Chris Sale (shoulder) and Eduardo Rodriguez (ankle) also on the mend. Over his six relief outings earlier this season, Wright delivered a 2.25 ERA across 16 innings.

Wright (knee) is throwing bullpen sessions and manager Alex Cora said he is "getting close" to a rehab assignment, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has been on disabled list since late June, so he should require multiple starts in the minors to build up his arm strength. A firm timetable is unlikely to be available until the rehab assignment is set, making a return prior to September unlikely for the veteran right-hander.

Wright (knee) threw off a mound over the weekend for the first time since being placed on the disabled list June 26, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright only threw a few pitches, but it was a positive step for the knuckleballer. Both Wright and manager Alex Cora feel he could return at some point this season. The problem for Wright when he came back from the injury the first time was doing too much, too soon. Armed with that knowledge, the right-hander can make the necessary adjustments to avoid a relapse again.

Wright (knee) has thrown long toss, played catch and participated in drills off the mound, but remains sidelined indefinitely, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox don't know if Wright can be available to pitch again this season, but if he does, it's expected to be out of the bullpen. There isn't room in the rotation for Wright, who pitched well as a long reliever and then as a starter before his surgically repaired knee betrayed him. Wright feels the workload was too much, too soon. "It kind of sucks because a lot of it is trial and error. I came back, and I was throwing the ball well. But I just think the workload was too much, too soon as far as being a starter and trying to go out there seven innings," said Wright.

Wright (knee) is coming along slower than expected, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The knuckleballer was given a PRP injection earlier in July but it seems the treatment has not quite had the desired effect. As things stand now, Wright seems to be in a holding pattern with his recovery, making his return timetable hazy. He had surgery on the same (left) knee in May of 2017.
