Souza went 2-for-4 with his 29th homer and two RBI against the Royals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This fine performance busted a four-game slump that saw Souza go just 1-for-15. It's not hard for fantasy owners to appreciate all those long balls and the 13 steals Souza's managed alongside them, but even though he's cut his strikeouts, he's still one of the league's more prolific whiff artists, having gone down on strikes 151 times already this year. That's kept Souza from seeing a noticeable bump in batting average -- his .252 mark, while technically a career high, isn't much better than last year's .247. Still, both his power and his plate discipline have improved significantly this season, and Souza's likely to clear 90 RBI and 80 runs before all's said and done.

Souza went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs in Friday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Souza's 434-foot shot to left in the third erased an early 1-0 deficit and was his third homer in the last six games. The slugging outfielder has a pair of multi-hit efforts in the last three games as well, although he continues to hit an unsightly .189 in a month during which his offensive success has largely been limited to the long ball.

Souza went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
While his contributions outside of the long ball have been limited this month. Souza does have five homers during the month, with two of those coming in the last four games. The slugging outfielder has hit just .217 in the second half, but also has a respectable .492 slugging percentage and an impressive 38.8 percent hard contact rate over that span. Therefore, the 122-point drop in BABIP he's experienced (.351 to .229) after the All-Star break seems to be the primary culprit in his downturn.

Souza went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Souza smashed his 26th homer of the year in the sixth inning to pull the Rays within four runs in a losing effort. Although he has a pedestrian .258 batting average, his excellent power has resulted in a .499 slugging percentage, which is his best source of fantasy production.

Souza is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Souza had started in each of the Rays' previous 12 games, so manager Kevin Cash is likely just looking to give him a day off to rest up. Peter Bourjos will join the outfield in place of Souza, manning center field while Mallex Smith shifts over to Souza's usual spot in right.

Souza went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Souza was a one-man wrecking crew, but with the rest of the offense largely being stymied by Corey Kluber and two relievers, his contributions ultimately weren't enough. The slugging outfielder has blasted a trio of bombs thus far in August but struggled otherwise, hitting just .176 and already striking out 15 times over 40 plate appearances.

Souza went 2-for-4 with a game-winning solo home run in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Souza's 24th round tripper of the season came at the most opportune of times, as he took reliever Jacob Barnes deep to lead off the ninth and claim the one-run win for the Rays. The outfielder has a pair of two-hit games in the first four contests of August, both of which have included a homer.

Souza (foot) went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, a walk and three RBI in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Souza looked no worse for wear after sitting out the past two games, launching a solo homer in the sixth inning before hitting a two-run double in the seventh. The 28-year-old outfielder has already set career bests across the board with 23 home runs, 61 runs scored and 68 RBI.

Souza (foot) is starting in right field and batting fifth Thursday against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Souza was apparently available off the bench Wednesday night, and he finally appears to be healthy enough to return to the starting lineup. Still, he has been scratched from the lineup each of the previous two games, so it would be smart to monitor his status if you plan on using him in daily contests.

Souza (foot) was available off the bench Wednesday against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tests on his foot came back negative, and Souza was apparently feeling healthy enough to come off the bench if needed. He'll remain day-to-day, but this is encouraging news regarding his status for Thursday's series finale.
