Moya went 2-for-4 with two solo homers for Triple-A Toledo on Monday, giving him six long balls in the last eight games. The 23-year-old outfielder has struggled with strikeouts this season, fanning 101 times in 306 at-bats, but he's showing good power overall with 15 home runs and 54 RBI over 77 combined games with the Mud Hens and in a brief rehab stint at High-A Lakeland earlier this year. While the Tigers are looking for options to contribute to their offense in the absence of Miguel Cabrera (calf), Moya is seemingly blocked by his lack of experience at first base (he's never appeared at the position as a professional) and by the presence of Victor Martinez, who remains entrenched as the DH in Detroit for the time being.

Moya went 3-for-6 with a homer, a pair of doubles, and five RBI across both games of Triple-A Toledo's doubleheader on Tuesday. Moya's .244/.294/.415 line across 178 plate appearances with Toledo is right around league-average production, but he's done well to pick himself up after a slow start to the season that may have been attributed to his bout with plantar fasciitis. The 23-year-old has recorded at least one hit in eight of his 10 games in June.

Moya (heel) returned to the Triple-A Toledo lineup Saturday, going 0-for-4 in his season debut. Moya hit the 7-day disabled list to begin the season after he was slowed by plantar fasciitis in his right foot coming out of spring training. The Tigers were apparently satisfied enough with his results during his rehab assignment at High-A Lakeland (11-for-40 with three homers) to slot him back in at Toledo, where he'll rank among the team's top call-up candidates for the big club should the Tigers need an extra outfielder at some point.

Moya (heel) went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in a rehab game with High-A Lakeland on Thursday. Most likely, he'll take a few days in the lower levels of the Tigers' system before rejoining the lineup at Triple-A Toledo. The game action Thursday was Moya's first of the minor league season.

Moya has plantar fasciitis and will start the seaosn on the DL, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. This doesn't hurt Moya's long-term outlook as a prospect, it just might delay his major league debut. He wasn't guaranteed to make the big leagues this season, but the Tigers will want to take care of him given how shallow their system is behind him.

Moya was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Moya entered camp a long shot to make the 25-man roster out of camp, and back spasms didn't help his cause. He will start the season back at Triple-A, but could see some time in the majors this season should one of the outfielders suffer an injury.

Moya (back) has checked out fine and will be available off the bench Wednesday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. Moya sat out of Tuesday's game due to back spasms, but it appears the issue has subsided and he will once again be available. He should be fine moving forward, though back spasms can resurface.

Moya did not play in Tuesday's spring game due to back spasms, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports. Moya, who is competing for a reserve spot on the Tigers' roster, will be reevaluated Wednesday. It remains to be seen if the setback will cost him any further action.

Moya will likely open the season at Triple-A Toledo, MLive.com reports. The addition of Yoenis Cespedes and Anthony Gose via trades this offseason has put the Tigers in a position where Moya would be pressed to serve as more than the team's fifth outfielder to begin the season. As a result, it's more likely that he'll be developed with everyday at-bats in the minors to begin the year, while Tyler Collins has the inside track to earn the final spot on the bench. Moya's plate discipline is still a work in progress, but he has excellent power and could be considered as an option to leapfrog Collins if injuries strike and the Tigers need a regular for one of the corner outfield spots.

Moya has been named the Double-A Eastern League MVP, reports milb.com. Moya's 34 homers and 102 RBI tied league records while his 277 total bases set a new one. He broke out big this season, showing what he can do when he makes contact, but has serious plate discipline issues that will be tested at the Major League level.
