Matz pitched 6.1 innings Thursday, yielding three runs on three hits and two walks in the 4-3 win over Miami. He struck out four and allowed two home runs in the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Miami jumped on Matz fairly early, with Peter O'Brien and Isaac Galloway hitting back-to-back solo homers in the second inning. O'Brien would also later tack on a run-scoring single. On the bright side, Matz did launch a homer himself, knotting things up at 2-2 in the second inning. The 27-year-old southpaw will take a 4.18 ERA into Philadelphia early next week.

Matz didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw continued his recent dominant form, and Matz now has a 2.25 ERA and 31:5 K:BB in 24 innings over his last four starts. Despite his late-season surge, though, he hasn't won a game since July 26. Matz will carry a 4.17 ERA into his next outing Wednesday at home against the Marlins.

Matz allowed just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 11 in seven innings Saturday, but he didn't factor into the decision as the Mets eventually defeated the Giants in 11 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw told a familiar tale with some of the Mets' best arms -- chiefly Jacob deGrom -- by twirling a gem but not getting the reward of a win. Matz (5-11) now holds a 4.20 ERA, 8.7 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 on the year. His inconsistency has hid signs that he could enjoy a Zack Wheeler-esque breakout in 2019, but the 27-year-old's longtime battles with injuries always present caution when banking on too many innings. Still, he's thrown a career-high 24 starts this year and might surpass the 132.1 frames he logged in 2016, and his skills still carry long-term intrigue.

Matz (5-11) allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings as he was saddled with the loss Sunday against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Matz surrendered just one run in the sixth inning prior to exiting a 1-0 ballgame, but the New York bullpen would implode in the late innings, as they gave up eight runs in the eighth and six more in the ninth on the way to a 15-0 drubbing. The 27-year-old managed to work into the seventh inning for the time in two months, as he was extremely efficient in his outing: he finished the day with 65 of 97 pitches for strikes.

Matz (forearm) has been activated off the 10-day disabled list ahead of his start Thursday against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets optioned Tim Peterson in a corresponding move to clear a spot for Matz, who is making his first start since July 31.

Matz (forearm) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets indicated earlier in the week that Matz would be added back to the rotation Thursday, but it wasn't immediately clear if he would start the first or second game of the twin bill. It's now been confirmed that Corey Oswalt will oppose Ranger Suarez in the afternoon contest, while Matz goes head-to-head against Zach Eflin in the nightcap.

Matz (forearm) completed a 56-pitch simulated game Saturday and is set to return from the disabled list to start Thursday's game at Philadelphia, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz hit the DL at the start of August with a mild flexor-pronator strain and the Mets played things cautiously to avoid rushing him back. Manager Mickey Callaway has also indicated the team is considering keeping Corey Oswalt as a starter by moving to a six-man rotation.

Matz (forearm) will toss a simulated game Saturday and could return to the rotation during Thursday's twin bill against Philadelphia, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Mickey Callaway added that the Mets are considering moving forward with a six-man rotation upon Matz's return, in order to keep Corey Oswalt in the fold. If all goes according to plan with Saturday's test against live hitting, Matz should be cleared for activation prior to Thursday's doubleheader.

Matz (forearm) will miss at least one more turn through the rotation, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was hoping to miss just one start after landing on the disabled list earlier in the month with a flexor-pronator strain, but the Mets determined he wouldn't be ready to take the mound over the weekend after his bullpen session Monday. Corey Oswalt will make another start in Matz's place, though barring any setbacks it sounds like the southpaw could reclaim his spot in the rotation next week.

Matz was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a flexor-pronator strain Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Matz has avoided structural damage to his forearm, but in a lost season the Mets have no reason to push him. The DL assignment is retroactive to Aug. 1, so he could return Aug. 11 and potentially only miss one start. Corey Oswalt was called up to take his place in the rotation.
