Assistant general manager John Ricco said Thursday that Matz (forearm) is dealing with a mild flexor-pronator strain and is expected to miss his next start, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ricco added that "there's a good chance we take the conservative route," meaning that the club will likely put Matz on the 10-day disabled list and skip his upcoming turn -- Sunday against Atlanta -- in the rotation. That being said, Matz is still listed as the Sunday's stater, per Tim Britton of The Athletic, so expect another update in the near future.

Matz (forearm) remains the listed starter for Sunday's game against the Braves, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though this is obviously a good sign concerning Matz's status after he received clean results from an MRI on Thursday, don't perceive this as a guarantee that the left-hander will be on the mound this weekend since there hasn't been an official confirmation from manager Mickey Callaway. It's slightly surprising that the Mets will thrust him right back into action on normal rest after experiencing a "dead arm" during Tuesday's start, but more should be known in the coming days.

An MRI on Thursday revealed that Matz is not dealing with any structural damage in his forearm, Jon Heyman of Fancred reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz received some good news after he was removed from Tuesday's start with a "dead arm" following a 32-pitch first-inning nightmare against the Nationals. It remains to be seen whether Matz will be able to take the mound during his scheduled start versus Atlanta on Sunday, so look for an update on his status in the coming days once the Mets have time to evaluate their options.

Manager Mickey Callaway said Matz experienced some forearm tightness after the pitcher claimed he had a "dead arm" following Tuesday's start, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz will be further evaluated and is set to undergo an MRI within the next 24 hours after only recording two outs on 32 pitches during Tuesday's outing against the Nationals. The Mets have not ruled him out for Sunday's scheduled start versus Atlanta, but it isn't looking good at the moment.

Matz (5-8) allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out nine across six innings to earn the win Thursday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Matz put together a start full of mixed signals as he only allowed five baserunners and also struck out a season-best nine batters across his six innings of work. However, two of the three hits he surrendered were home runs, accounting for all four of his earned runs. All told, he has allowed 12 earned runs across his last 17.1 innings -- spanning three starts -- causing his ERA to jump from 3.31 to 3.79.

Matz fell to 4-8 on the year after allowing five runs on nine hits and a walk Saturday against the Yankees, striking out three in five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Matz didn't get into any real trouble until the fourth inning, when he was knocked around for four runs on five hits, including three straight extra-base hits. He was pulled with no outs in the sixth inning after allowing another run on back-to-back hits. Despite the poor showing, the southpaw still has a solid 3.65 ERA through 19 starts. He'll get the chance to bounce back Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Matz (4-7) allowed three earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four across 6.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was taken deep twice -- both came off the bat of Anthony Rendon -- which accounted for all three of his earned runs. He scattered six other hits -- none for extra-bases -- but was able to avoid more damage to his ERA by stranding five runners in scoring position. This was hardly his strongest effort -- he generated only four swinging strikes -- but his velocity was up from him season-long averages so there are no obvious signs of fatigue. Matz now has a 3.38 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 96 innings, putting him well on his way to rebounding from a disappointing 2017 season.

Matz (4-6) allowed one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out five across 6.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Four of the five hits Matz allowed went for extra-bases, but he used timely strikeouts and groundball outs to limit the damage. He has been on a nice run, lowering his ERA from 4.42 to 3.31 over his last ten starts while allowing only six home runs in 57 innings. Though he hasn't been rewarded with wins, Matz has also done well working deeper into games as he has completed at least six innings in five of his last seven starts after accomplishing that only twice in his first 10 starts this season.

Matz (4-5) threw 5.1 innings Sunday, yielding one unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out six batters in a 5-2 win over Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Matz picked up his second win in his last four starts with the solid performance Sunday. Granted, the only run that scored was off an error by Matz. The 27-year-old southpaw lowered his season ERA to 3.46 alongside a respectable 76:32 K:BB. Matz will take the mound again next Sunday against the Rays.

Matz allowed three runs on six hits while striking out seven over seven innings in Tuesday's win over the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Matz faced the minimum over the first four innings before allowing a pair of runs on four consecutive hits to begin the fifth inning. The Pirates tacked on another run with a Gregory Polanco solo shot in the seventh before Matz was lifted after throwing a season-high 110 pitches. The southpaw has now posted quality starts in four of his last five starts and currently owns a respectable 3.69 ERA on the season. His next start will come Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
