Matz (finger) is listed as the Mets' probable starter for Saturday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Matz battled a blister on his left middle finger in his previous outing Aug. 25 versus the Braves, but the issue didn't hinder him from a results standpoint. He worked six innings in the outing, giving up only one run to reduce his season ERA to 4.06. With Matz completing his between-starts throwing session with no renewed discomfort, he's not expected to face any noteworthy restrictions when he returns to the mound this weekend.

Matz (8-8) has a left middle finger blister, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. He took the loss Sunday against the Braves after giving up one run on two hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
Matz may have returned for the seventh inning without the blister, but he still threw 102 pitches so it's not as if he had a significantly reduced workload. He's completed six innings in each of his last four starts, as the blister apparently only causes problems on his breaking balls. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the left-hander has been battling the issue over his last few outing, so it doesn't sound as though it will impact his availability for his next turn through the rotation.

Matz (8-7) earned the win Tuesday versus the Indians after allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over 6.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Matz really only had trouble with one hitter Tuesday, as Jason Kipnis brought home both runs with a solo homer and an RBI single. The 28-year-old now has three straight quality starts in which he's given up five runs (three earned) across 19 innings. Matz lines up to close the week with a start against the Braves at home.

Matz gave up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five through six innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Matz ran into a little trouble in the second frame, but he didn't allow a baserunner otherwise. In an odd move, Matz was removed 79 pitches into a nice performance after hitting for himself in the top of the seventh inning. The 28-year-old has a 4.33 ERA and 109 strikeouts through 22 starts this season. Matz will make his next start Tuesday against the Indians at Citi Field.

Matz (7-7) allowed two runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts across 6.2 innings to earn a victory against the Marlins on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Other than the rough start his last time on the mound, Matz has pitched very well since the beginning of July. In five outings since the All-Star break, Matz is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA. He improved back to the .500 mark with his win Wednesday, and Matz owns a 4.49 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 104 strikeouts in 110.1 innings this season. He will make his next start Wednesday at the Braves.

Matz (6-7) took the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over 3.2 innings Friday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Matz cruised through three scoreless innings to begin his day, but the Pirates pounded for five runs in the fourth inning and managed to chase the lefty from the contest. The 28-year-old was coming off a complete-game shutout in his last start, though he didn't have the same deadly stuff this time around. He owns a 4.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 97 strikeouts over 103.2 innings this season with New York.

Matz (6-6) allowed five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in a complete-game shutout against the Pirates on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This was definitely Matz's best outing of the season. Other than relief appearances, he only had one outing this year where he allowed zero runs before Saturday, but Matz does possess a 1.80 ERA in his last five appearances. Overall, he owns a 4.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 93 strikeouts in 100 innings this season. Matz will look to keep his scoreless innings streak going against the Pirates again during his next start Friday.

Matz allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out six and taking the no-decision in the loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
After bouncing around between the starting rotation and the bullpen, Sunday was Matz's longest outing since June 14. The 28-year-old has allowed four runs in 10 innings since rejoining the rotation after the All-Star break. He'll carry a 4.75 ERA into Saturday's home start against the Pirates.

Matz allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts across four innings during a no-decision against the Twins on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Coming into the night, Matz was on a 80-pitch count limit, so it wasn't a surprise that he left after just 68 pitches in four frames. It also meant a high probability for a no-decision, which is exactly what happened. Matz hasn't recorded a decision since June 24. He is 5-6 with a 4.87 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 80 strikeouts in 85 innings this season. Hopefully he won't be on such a restrictive pitch count in his next start Sunday at the Giants.

Matz won't throw more than 80 pitches in his start Tuesday against the Twins, Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz hasn't started a game since June 29 and hasn't pitched five innings since June 19, so it's not particularly surprising to see him on a pitch count. The short hook hurts Matz's chance at a win and hurts his chances of recording a high strikeout total.
