Matz (0-2) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out three across three innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Matz allowed two home runs for the second consecutive outing, this time solo shots by Howie Kendrick and Josh Harrison. However, he was also tagged by a lengthy rally in the third inning, when the Nationals collected four hits -- three were singles -- to tally three more runs. Through three starts this season, Matz has a 5.65 ERA, though he has also managed a 13:3 K:BB acros 14.1 frames. He currently lines up for his next start on Monday in a rematch against the Nationals.

Matz (0-1) allowed three earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three across 5.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
All of Matz's earned runs came from the bat of Christian Vazquez, who took him yard twice. While he was hardly dominant otherwise, his line was inflated by allowing four infield hits. Matz was unable to follow up his strong opening start of the season, but has shown the ability to work deep into games early on, throwing 11.1 innings across his two outings. He currently lines up to make his third start of the campaign on Tuesday at the Nationals.

Matz allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven in six innings, but he took a no-decision Saturday versus the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was excellent, with the only blemish on his line the result of a second-inning Adam Duvall solo home run. Matz had 15 quality starts in 30 starts last season and he's already added his first this year. The 29-year-old southpaw lines up to face the Red Sox at home Thursday.

Matz will start Saturday against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz will serve on the front end of the Mets' starting rotation to begin the season after Marcus Stroman (calf) was placed on the injured list Wednesday. The southpaw drew positive reviews from manager Luis Rojas about his performance during camp. Matz made 32 appearances (30 starts) for the Mets last season, posting a 4.21 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 160.1 innings.

Matz drew raves from manager Luis Rojas for his performance during a simulated game Monday, Bradford William Davis of The New York Daily News reports. "Eye-popping," Rojas said during a Zoom call with the media. "All the pitches are looking great."
EDGE Analysis
The Mets manager further said that Matz's command appeared to be ahead of schedule. The southpaw will be counted on to fill a spot behind Jacob deGrom and Marcus Stroman at the back of the team's rotation this season, but Matz's erratic track record in the majors makes him a somewhat risky fantasy option.

Matz seems locked into a spot in the Mets' rotation with Noah Syndergaard lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was competing with Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha for the final two slots and even saw some trade rumors swirl around his head this spring due to the Mets' perceived pitching depth, but Matz doesn't appear to be going anywhere now. He was also having a strong spring when MLB was put on pause, posting a 1.50 ERA, 0.33 WHIP and 5:0 K:BB through six innings.

Matz tossed three perfect innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports. He threw 30 of 44 pitches for strikes before tossing another 15 pitches in the bullpen after his start.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander continues to make a strong case to open the season as a starter, either for the Mets or for another team if the Mets elect to trade him. Matz has a 1.50 ERA and 5:0 K:BB through six spring innings.

Matz (illness) will start Saturday's spring game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
An illness had sidelined Matz since Feb. 29, but he is ready to get back on the bump Saturday. He should have plenty of time to be ready by Opening Day, but his role remains somewhat uncertain, as it was reported on the first day of the month he could be used as a primary pitcher behind an opener to kick off the campaign.

Matz (illness) threw a side session Wednesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was sent home sick Tuesday, but the illness evidently wasn't particularly severe. He's scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Nationals.

Matz was sent home from Mets camp Tuesday after coming down with an illness, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz's ailment isn't believed to be anything significant; the Mets are just keeping him away so he doesn't pass his illness around to the team's healthy players. The southpaw will miss out on his scheduled bullpen session as a result, though he still anticipates that he'll be ready to go when his next turn in the Grapefruit League pitching schedule comes up Friday versus the Astros.
