Matz allowed six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five across 2.2 innings in a loss to the Braves on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Friday was Matz's first time pitching since he was activated from the injured list Sunday, and it was his first start since Aug. 15. The rust was clearly evident as he allowed eight hits (including two home runs) and three walks to the first 16 batters he faced. Matz's outing makes him the third consecutive Mets starter to fail to go at least three innings after both Jacob deGrom (hamstring) and Seth Lugo were pulled before the third in their respective starts. The southpaw owns a 9.79 ERA to go along with a 30:9 K:BB across 26.2 innings this season. It's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation, or if he'll shift back to the bullpen moving forward.

Matz will start Friday's game at home against Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Sunday after recovering from shoulder discomfort and hasn't pitched since. He was transitioned to a bullpen role prior to heading to the injured list, but he'll return to the mound to make a spot start for the series opener against Atlanta. The southpaw has an 0-4 record with an 8.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 24 innings this season.

Matz (shoulder) was activated off the 10-day injured list Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander landed on the injured list at the end of August with the shoulder discomfort, and he'll rejoin the team after recovering for the past two weeks. Matz began the season as a starter before shifting to the bullpen and has a 8.63 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB over 24 innings.

Matz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday and is expected to return from the injured list soon, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz has already served the required 10 days on the injured list due to shoulder discomfort. If Friday's bullpen session is the last one he needs, he could make a start sometime early next week.

Matz (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old exited Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader with left shoulder discomfort and will require at least 10 days to recover. It's unclear if Matz is expected to be healthy when eligible to be activated Sept. 9.

Matz reportedly experienced some left shoulder discomfort during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Yankees and is probably headed to the injured list, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz relieved Robert Gsellman in the bottom half of the fifth and pitched a 1-2-3 inning while striking out two batters. Mets manager Luis Rojas claims Matz "didn't feel right" despite an efficient outing. Matz will most likely officially move to the injured list either Saturday or Sunday.

Matz could be an option to start later this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team is hoping not to use Matz out of the bullpen during Tuesday's doubleheader, as they have nine games over the next six days and while Matz has been bad as a starter this year, these are desperate times. Matz has a 9.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 23 innings this year.

Matz was removed from the starting rotation and will be available out of the bullpen for Thursday's game against the Marlins, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets left the southpaw's status in the rotation up in the air coming out of his ugly outing Saturday, and he'll move to the bullpen rather than start Thursday. Seth Lugo will take his spot in the rotation, though Matz could still see work Thursday since Lugo isn't close to being stretched out as a starter. Matz has surrendered 23 runs on 30 hits, including nine homers, through 23 innings this season.

The Mets have not yet decided whether Matz will remain in the rotation for his next scheduled start Thursday against the Marlins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has a 14.66 ERA and 1.97 WHIP over his last three starts. If the Mets had quality options behind Matz, he would have likely already been bumped from the rotation, but the team's rotation depth has really been tested so far this season.

Matz (0-4) took the loss Saturday as the Mets were downed 6-2 by the Phillies, coughing up six runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw held his own through four innings, but the Phillies broke it open the third time through the order with five runs in the fifth. There was very little that could be taken from Matz's final line that might be called encouraging, as he got tagged for another homer -- already the ninth he's served up -- and doubled the number of walks he's issued on the year for good measure. He'll carry a ghastly 9.00 ERA and 23:6 K:BB through 23 innings into his next outing Thursday in Miami.
