Matz started Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against Cleveland and didn't factor into the decision, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits with four strikeouts in a 6-5 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was cruising with a no-hitter through five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth, allowing three straight base hits following a leadoff error before being removed. All four runs eventually scored to put a damper on an excellent game through five innings. The lefty now has a 4.22 ERA and lines up to tentatively face Houston at home next Sunday.

Matz (5-2) allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out four across five innings to earn the win over the Astros on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Matz picked up his fifth win Saturday, tying him for the most wins in the American League. The bulk of his damage came from a two-run home run by Yordan Alvarez in the fourth inning. The 30-year-old has struggled with the long ball, holding a 1.46 HR/9, which is good for ninth-highest in all of baseball. However, he didn't walk anyone in a start for the first time this season. Matz carries a 4.86 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 37 innings.

He threw 54 of 80 pitches for strikes and doubled the number of earned runs on his ledger. Matz will carry a 4.00 ERA and 27:9 K:BB through 27 innings into his next outing.
