Steve Pearce homered in a second straight game Friday against the Astros. Pearce has three homers in four games, which could leave the Orioles with a tough decision with Chris Davis on the verge of returning early next week. The team could keep him for now if Matt Wieters is ready to catch, in which case Caleb Joseph would exit the roster, but one imagines they'll eventually have to pick between Pearce and Delmon Young for one roster spot.

Steve Pearce went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Rays. Pearce took Rays starter David Price deep for a two-run home run in the second inning, putting the Orioles on top 2-1 early. Pearce has two homers on the season now and has hit safely in six of eight games since being re-signed by the Orioles at the end of April. The 31-year-old has seen regular playing time at first base since Chris Davis has been sidelined with an oblique injury.

Steve Pearce went 3-for-4 and knocked in a pair of runs in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates. Pearce was brought back by the Orioles two days ago in the aftermath of Chris Davis's strained oblique, and he had one of his best games today since originally arriving in Baltimore last year. He had been just 1-for-7 as a bench player this season before getting designated for assignment on April 22. The Orioles will use him at first on a part-time basis until Davis returns.

Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports hears that the Orioles are expected to designate Steve Pearce for assignment. Nothing is official yet, but this is presumably the move to make room for T.J. McFarland on the active roster. The Orioles will move ahead with 13 pitchers if that's the case.

Orioles and OF/1B Steve Pearce avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $850,000 contract. Pearce gets a small raise in his second year of arbitration after batting .261/.362/.420 with four home runs over 44 games for the Orioles in 2013. He'll compete for a bench spot in spring training.
