Orioles claimed OF Steve Pearce off waivers from the Yankees. Pearce appeared in 28 games with Baltimore before being traded for cash considerations earlier this year, and will provide right-handed hitting depth. The Orioles recalled Oliver Drake from Double-A Bowie in a corresponding move and placed him on the 60-day disabled list.

Yankees acquired OF Steve Pearce from the Astros for cash considerations. Pearce, a right-handed hitter, is batting .275/.345/.490 against left-handed pitchers this season. He'll serve as a pinch-hitter and backup outfielder for the Yankees over the final five weeks of the regular season.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports Steve Pearce is drawing trade interest from the Giants. The Giants need outfield depth with Melky Cabrera (suspension) out for the remainder of the season. If acquired, Pearce would presumably function in a left field platoon with Gregor Blanco.

Steve Pearce hit a three-run homer off the Angels' C.J. Wilson to account for all of Baltimore's scoring in Friday's win. With a .258 average, three homers and 14 RBI in 62 at-bats, Pearce has done a nice job in spot duty as a starter against lefties. It'd be a mistake to expand his role further, but he's helping as is.
