Manaea (arm) was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea had to leave Monday's start early and was diagnosed with a pronator strain in his left forearm. The lefty does not currently have a timetable, but Oakland figures to err on the side of caution with the 24-year-old. Eric Surkamp was recalled to the major league roster in a corresponding move and figures to take Manaea's spot in the starting rotation during his absence.

Manaea left Monday night's start after only 4.1 innings due to a left pronator muscle strain in his forearm, reports Jane Lee of MLB.com.
EDGE Analysis
This is a really bad break for Manaea and for the A's considering Manaea is their top pitching prospect. There is no timetable yet for the injury, but a forearm injury to a young pitcher is almost certainly to be dealt with cautiously, even if not serious.

Manaea (2-4) gave up five runs on six hits and two walks and struck out six over seven innings in a loss Tuesday against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea got touched up for a pair of home runs, which continues to be a huge issue for the rookie. He has now surrendered seven in his first eight starts, resulting in a 1.2 HR/9. Missing bats hasn't been a problem -- he induced 16 whiffs against Milwaukee on Tuesday -- but he just hasn't shown the command to get through entire games without making those big mistakes just yet. His ERA is up to 6.20, and he'll have to keep the ball in the yard to start bringing that down.

Manaea (2-3) allowed just one run on five hits over six innings in a 5-1 victory over the Twins on Wednesday. He also struck out eight and walked three.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander had a few rocky outings once he made his MLB debut at the end of April, but he has a respectable 3.55 ERA and a 2.37 K/BB over his last three starts. Manaea has also allowed just one homer in his last 25.1 innings. In his first 12.2 frames in the big leagues, he tossed up four long balls. Manaea is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday against the Brewers.

Manaea (1-3) threw six innings in Friday's loss against Detroit, in which he allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea registered a quality start, but it wasn't enough to lead his team to a win, and he lost for the second straight game. The 24-year-old lowered his ERA to a 7.03 which is still quite high, but at least he's gone a minimum of six innings in his last three outings. He will look to get back to winning ways during his next start against the Twins on Wednesday.

Manaea (1-2) gave up six hits, five earned runs and two walks over 6.2 innings in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was serviceable, but couldn't get any run support from his offense on a day when Masahiro Tanaka was on top of his game. Manaea threw 66 of 95 pitches across the plate, and managed first-pitch strikes on 19 of the 29 hitters he faced. It was a step back for the 24-year-old, who'd allowed only one hit to the Rangers during his last start, clearly his best outing of the season to date. He did stay away from the long ball for the second straight start, and the 6.2 innings equaled his longest stint on the mound, which he accomplished in the aforementioned outing against Texas. He'll try to get back in the win column against the Tigers next Friday in Oakland.

Manaea (1-1) allowed just one run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6.2 innings in a win Monday against Texas.
EDGE Analysis
In his fourth major league start, Manaea managed the first quality start of his career as he bounced back well from a disastrous outing last time out in Boston (2.2 IP, 10 H, 8 R). Manaea managed to keep the ball in the park despite serving up 10 fly balls. He had allowed four home runs in his first three starts, and he'll have to continue to show he can avoid the long ball if he's going to recover from his tough start to post a solid rookie season.

Manaea served up eight runs on 10 hits over just 2.2 innings in a loss Tuesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was touched up for a pair of home runs in the first inning and was chased after six hits, including five consecutive, in the third inning. All of Manaea's starts thus far have been ruined by a single bad inning, as he allowed three runs in the fifth inning his first time out against Houston and four runs in the same frame in his previous start against Seattle. Manaea dominated Triple-A, with 21 strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA in three starts, but major league hitters are having little trouble figuring him out.

Manaea allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings while striking out six and walking one in his second big league start Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The A's pulled him after just 75 pitches, thanks in large part to a four-run fifth inning from the Seattle offense. Manaea served up a mammoth two-run homer to Nelson Cruz in that frame, but he had tossed four scoreless innings prior to his meltdown the third time through the batting order. Currently, he's lined up to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his next scheduled start.

Manaea allowed four runs in five innings while striking out three in his major league debut on Friday night against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea allowed one run through the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the sixth inning allowing three straight batters to reach base without getting an out. His line got uglier after Sean Doolittle entered the game and allowed two inherited runners to score. Manaea looked good in the first five innings, but the four walks allowed are a concern. He is expected to stick in the A's rotation and will next take the mound on Wednesday against Seattle.
