Manaea was roughed up for six runs (five earned) on six hits with two walks and a strikeout in just 3.1 innings Sunday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was lucky to escape with a no-decision as opposing starter Ricky Nolasco was almost as bad. The 25-year-old lefty has been unable to gain any traction in his past two starts, lasting just 6.1 innings while allowing 12 runs. Not all of that damage is his fault, with five of those 12 runs being of the unearned variety. Manaea will hope for better play both from himself and the defense Friday against the Orioles.

Manaea (8-6) pitched just three innings against the Giants on Tuesday, giving up six runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk in a 10-4 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Things went wrong for him from the very beginning, with Gorkys Hernandez's leadoff double and Yonder Alonso's error two batters later sparking a rally that saw the Giants bat around in the first inning. Of course, outings like this one have been preciously rare for Manaea, who's been turning in generally fantasy-relevant results in his sophomore campaign. He's had some jitters here and there, as all young pitchers do, but fantasy owners should expect the 25-year-old to get back on track soon, with Sunday's start against the Angels presenting a fine opportunity to do so.

Manaea's slider has helped him dominate hitters of either handedness this season, Matt Kelly of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The young left-hander's considerably wide and low release point has made it difficult for hitters to discern between his fastball and changeup, but his slider has begun to draw plenty of attention in its own right. Manaea has grown increasingly comfortable throwing the pitch, utilizing it 17.5 percent of the time as per Statcast after only deploying it at a 12.9-percent clip in 2016. Manaea has gotten swings and misses approximately 43 percent of the time and allowed just a .167 average over 86 at-bats when using the pitch, typically locating it low and inside to right-handed hitters while placing it low and away to lefty bats.

Manaea (8-5) allowed three earned runs off seven hits while striking out seven over seven innings during Thursday's no-decision against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Besides a couple home runs to Josh Donaldson and Kendrys Morales, Manaea was able to command the strike zone yet again, marking a fourth quality start in his past five outings. This was the first time since May 20 that Manaea didn't record a single base on balls, as the left-hander was able to throw strikes during 68 of his 99 pitches. On the year, the former Indiana State Sycamore has posted an ERA of 3.82 and 1.23 WHIP with an 8.7 K/9 for the A's. He projects to face the Giants in San Francisco for his next start.

Manaea allowed four runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out just two batters over 5.2 innings during Saturday's loss to the Mets. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
This wasn't Manaea's sharpest showing, and the two punchouts were his fewest in a start since returning from the disabled list May 15. It was a rare off outing, though. The lefty has been a strong fantasy asset this season with a 3.82 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 8.8 K/9 for the campaign, and his eight wins are a solid total considering he's pitching for a basement-dwelling club. Manaea projects to face Toronto at the Rogers Centre in his next start.

Manaea allowed two earned runs over seven innings and picked up the win in Sunday's victory over the Indians. He allowed five hits and posted an 8:3 K:BB in the game.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea continues to throw the ball well for the A's and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of 11 starts, a span over which he has lowered his ERA from 5.52 to 3.68. He will look to keep things going in his next start later this week against the Mets.

Manaea (7-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out just three batters through seven innings during Friday's loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea has allowed three runs or fewer in nine of his past 10 starts and sports a 3.76 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 for the year. The young lefty is emerging as a matchup-proof fantasy asset entering the second half, and there is potential the best is still ahead. It's worth noting that an innings cap could come into play for the 25-year-old Manaea -- especially with Oakland last in the AL West.

Manaea allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six batters through 7.1 innings during Sunday's loss to Atlanta. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The young lefty has now held opponents to three runs or fewer in eight of his past nine starts and sports a solid 3.75 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 9.4 K/9 for the campaign. His 3.67 FIP is also right in line with his other statistics, so he projects to remain a strong fantasy asset moving forward. Manaea's game-to-game consistency is also encouraging. A road date at Safeco Field against the Mariners is up next.

Manaea (7-4) allowed one run on nine hits and three walks during Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Astros. He struck out three and was credited with the win.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea didn't have his best stuff going for him Tuesday, but was able to limit the hard-hitting Astros to just one run en route to his seventh win of the season. After facing the Yankees on June 16 and the Astros over his last two starts, Manaea will have the opportunity to face a more manageable opponent as he currently projects to square off against the Braves on Sunday.
