However, he'd hit Jackson Holliday with a pitch with two outs in the sixth inning before surrendering a two-run homer to Austin Slater, Baltimore's first hit of the game. Manaea has now gone seven innings in four of his last five outings, pitching to a 2.61 ERA in that span (31 innings). Overall, the left-hander is 9-5 on the year with a 3.48 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 138:52 K:BB across 137 innings. Manaea is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Diamondbacks early next week in his next outing.

All three runs charged to Manaea came across in the opening frame when the right-hander surrendered hits to four of the first six batters he faced, including three doubles, while also allowing a runner to advance on a wild pitch. He would manage to get through the next two innings unscathed but was relieved by Huascar Brazoban to open the fourth after throwing 85 pitches through three innings. Manaea picked up double-digit strikeouts in consecutive starts for the first time in his career. The 32-year-old is 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA over his last 10 starts, the fourth-best ERA in the National League over that span.

Manaea (7-4) picked up the win Tuesday, scattering two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Twins. He struck out 11.

The veteran southpaw tied his season high in innings while setting a new season high in Ks, as Manaea generated an eye-popping 23 swinging strikes among his 96 pitches. He's been outstanding over the last six weeks, giving up three earned runs or less in eight of his last nine starts while posting a 2.58 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB through 52.1 innings over that stretch, and Manaea's impressive run likely contributed to the Mets' decision not to make a more significant rotation addition than Paul Blackburn at the trade deadline. Manaea is scheduled to make his next start on the road early next week in St. Louis.

The two runs on his line came on solo home runs by Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto. Manaea has allowed more than three runs just once in his last eight outings, but he's had trouble pitching deep into games. For the season, the southpaw has a 3.74 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 101:45 K:BB through 106 innings over 20 starts. His next start is projected to come at home versus the Twins.

Manaea (6-4) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings as the Mets were downed 6-4 by the Marlins. He struck out one.

The southpaw was hit hard even during a 1-2-3 first inning -- one of the outs came when Jeff McNeil robbed Bryan De La Cruz of an extra-base hit at the wall in right field -- and Miami put runners in scoring position against Manaea in every other frame he worked. It was the first time in July that he'd failed to complete at least six innings, and the first time Manaea has given up more than three runs since June 8. He'll take a 3.73 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 97:41 K:BB through 101.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Yankees.

The veteran lefty served up two homers, but he did a good job of minimizing the damage on a night when the two teams combined for nine long balls -- the highest single-game total in MLB this season. Manaea has delivered three straight quality starts, giving him six on the year, and he's allowed three runs or fewer in six straight trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's gone 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB through 35.2 innings.

Manaea yielded two hits, three walks and struck out six over six shutout frames but did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Pirates.

EDGE Analysis

Manaea had another strong outing, picking up back-to-back quality starts for the first time since 2022. The left-hander did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth, when Ke'Bryan Hayes reached on an infield hit. Unfortunately, Manaea did not get much run support, which continues a common theme with him since he's still at five wins this season despite allowing three runs or fewer in 14 of his 17 starts.
