Indians signed 2B/OF Ryan Raburn to a minor league contract.
He'll be invited to spring training and should wind up with an Opening Day roster spot. Raburn is coming off a miserable 2012 season in which he hit just .171/.226/.254, but he'll offer the Indians versatility and a strong history (.796 OPS) against left-handed pitching.

The Indians are closing in on a minor league contract with free agent utility man Ryan Raburn.
The deal, which is expected to be finalized next week, would include an invitation to major league spring training. He's coming off a miserable 2012 season in which he hit .171/.226/.254, but provides versatility with his ability to play four different positions, and has a strong history of crushing left-handed pitching.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Indians have interest in free agent Ryan Raburn.
Raburn was released earlier this offseason after batting just .171/.226/.254 with one home run and a .480 OPS in 222 plate appearances with the Tigers this past season. Coming off a disastrous 2012, he seems likely to settle for a minor league deal with a spring training invite. The Rays, Marlins, Braves and Rangers have also been rumored as possible landing spots.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that six teams are interested in free agent Ryan Raburn.
The Rays, Marlins, Braves and Rangers appear to have the most interest. Raburn, 31, was released by the Tigers earlier this month after batting just .171/.226/.254 with one homer and a .480 OPS in 222 plate appearances this season. However, his versatility and previous production against southpaws will likely get him a shot somewhere.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland plans to use the recently recalled Ryan Raburn in a part-time role.
Raburn was batting .146 when the Tigers sent him down last month, and he was recalled Thursday despite hitting just .194 at Triple-A Toledo. "I'll be frank," said. "It's not as if Raburn went down there and tore it up. But we don't have (enough) right-handed hitters. He'll have to do something, though. He's not going to be the every-day second baseman. I'll play him like I think he plays best, which is probably part time." Raburn should probably be owned in AL-only leagues, but he's not a recommended fantasy play right now.

Tigers recalled INF Ryan Raburn from Triple-A Toledo.
Raburn was demoted to the minor leagues at the end of May after registering a brutal .146/.209/.211 slash line in 37 games with Detroit. He has nowhere to go but up and should see regular action at second base.
