Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) will likely need at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Nationals.
There was some speculation Ohlendorf could need just one start before rejoining the Nationals when first eligible, but Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that likely won't be the case. Ohlendorf is still working back from right shoulder inflammation that caused him to be disabled in early August. When Ohlendorf does return, he'll replace Taylor Jordan in the rotation.

Ross Ohlendorf (shoulder) hopes to throw a bullpen session Wednesday.
Ohlendorf, who is dealing with a "dead arm," said Tuesday that he's "feeling better everyday." Assuming he can get over the issue, he'll join the rotation in a couple weeks after Taylor Jordan reaches his innings limit.

Ross Ohlendorf played catch Tuesday and reported no issues with his right shoulder.
Ohlendorf was placed on the disabled list at the beginning of this month with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. He should start throwing bullpen sessions later this week and could begin a minor league rehab assignment by the middle of next week. The hope is that he'll be ready for activation around mid-August.

Nationals placed RHP Ross Ohlendorf on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 1, with right shoulder inflammation.
Ohlendorf's velocity was down in his last relief appearance, as he appears to be going through a dead arm phase. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. With Ross Detwiler possibly out for the year, Ohlendorf had been poised to enter the rotation when Taylor Jordan was shut down. Obviously that's up in the air now.

Ross Ohlendorf will be unavailable this weekend.
This comes on the heels of Ohlendorf struggling with his velocity during a relief appearance on Wednesday. It's not a major concern, but he might be dealing with some inflammation in his arm.

The Nationals have deemed Ross Ohlendorf uninjured after he left Wednesday's relief appearance.
Ohlendorf threw a season-high 114 pitches in a start last Friday and said he simply wasn't ready to appear in another game yet. He had been throwing in the mid-90s consistently but topped out at 86 mph Wednesday. "I just haven't quite recovered from my start," Ohlendorf said. "I'm fine. I just need another day. I could have kept pitching. I just wasn't throwing hard." It appears that the righty should be available in a few days.

Ross Ohlendorf exited Wednesday's game against the Tigers with an apparent injury.
Ohlendorf came on in relief of Gio Gonzalez and faced just two batters before exiting. No word yet on the exact nature of the injury, but the Nationals should pass along an update soon.

Ross Ohlendorf fired seven innings of one-run ball Friday in a no-decision against the Mets.
Ohlendorf surprisingly matched Matt Harvey by holding the Mets to just five hits and two walks while striking out a season-high eight. Using an old-school delivery, he now has a 1.87 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings of work since joining the Nats. It's safe to say that he has earned an extended opportunity in the starting rotation.
