Updating an earlier item, Roger Bernadina left Friday's game due to a right big toe injury.
He was actually injured Thursday when he fouled a ball off his foot, and the injury evidently got progressively worse. But, it appears to be a precautionary move, as Nationals manager Davey Johnson expects Bernadina to be ready to play by Sunday. The 27-year-old is competing with Rick Ankiel and Brett Carroll for the center field job and could wind up seeing time in left field if Mike Morse starts the year on the DL.

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Nationals have made it known that Roger Bernadina is available.
"The Shark" batted just .243/.301/.362 in 91 games for the Nationals this past season and will turn 28 years old next summer, but he has a good amount of raw skills and may be intriguing to a team that is comfortable with taking a risk. Bernadina had an .819 career OPS at the Triple-A level.

Roger Bernadina went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer Tuesday as the Nationals topped the Phillies 4-3 in 10 innings.
Pinch-hitter Ryan Zimmerman singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th. Bernadina was making his fifth start since being recalled on Sept. 2. The Nationals seem convinced now that he doesn't have a future as a regular, and they might choose to trade him this winter rather than keep him as a reserve going forward.
