Roger Bernadina (eye) will visit a doctor on Thursday. Bernadina developed an infection in his left eye prior to Wednesday's game and was unavailable to play in that contest. It shouldn't be a big deal, but the Nats should provide an update prior to Thursday's contest versus the Rockies.

Roger Bernadina homered and singled off the bench Tuesday against the Marlins. Officially, they were the first two hits of the spring for Bernadina, who played for The Netherlands in the WBC. He had been 0-for-7 in Nationals camp. Bernadina had a great year as a part-timer in 2012, hitting .291/.372/.405 in 227 at-bats. Still, the Nationals didn't consider him for a full-time role this year. He'll struggle to match last year's at-bats total if Bryce Harper, Denard Span and Jayson Werth stay relatively healthy.

X-rays on Roger Bernadina's wrist came back negative. Bernadina was hit in the wrist during the Netherlands' game against Japan on Sunday. As a precaution the outfielder is being held out of the lineup Monday, but he's available off the bench.

Nationals avoided arbitration with OF Roger Bernadina by agreeing to a one-year contract. The financials aren't yet known. Bernadina, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time, sported a nice .291/.372/.405 with five homers and 15 steals in 2012. He's a nice piece to have as an extra outfielder.

Roger Bernadina is being listed as day-to-day with a neck injury. Bernadina was injured after running into the left field wall Friday, but managed to stay in the game. With Michael Morse (wrist) out at least until Tuesday, the Nationals today are being forced to go with utilityman Steve Lombardozzi as their starting left fielder.
