Roger Bernadina (hamstring) expects to be ready for action after 2-3 days of rest. Bernadina suffered a mild right hamstring strain Monday while running the bases in Toronto. An MRI taken Tuesday ruled out a tear. He'll avoid the disabled list.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Roger Bernadina's strained right hamstring is believed to be "not severe." Bernadina injured his hamstring Monday while running the bases. While the early word is encouraging, we'll know a lot more after he is re-evaluated Tuesday.

Roger Bernadina left Monday's game with an apparent right knee injury. Bernadina went from first to third on a wild pitch and might have banged his knee too hard on the Rogers Centre turf when he slid into the bag. We'll update his condition when more is known. Xavier Nady replaced him on the basepaths.

Roger Bernadina stayed hot by going 2-for-4 with a steal and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Reds. Bernadina is running away with the open outfield job as the Nats adjust to life without Jayson Werth (wrist). He's started four straight games, going 6-for-17 with two homers, five RBI and two steals during that span. There's some power/speed upside here.

Roger Bernadina had a strong night against the Reds on Friday, going 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a 7-3 victory over the Reds. Bernadina is being given the chance to claim the starting job in left field, and hasn't disappointed thus far. His first inning homer off of Mike Leake was his second on the season, and he also picked up his third stolen base of the year later in the game. As long as he's going to be receiving regular playing time, he's well worth a look in most leagues.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Friday that he wants Roger Bernadina and Xavier Nady to "get the lion's share of time" in left field. Bernadina and Nady had been splitting time in left with Mark DeRosa as well, but Johnson wants to simplify things and define each player's role. Bernadina stands to benefit the most from this new alignment, as he'll likely play everyday against right handed pitching.

Roger Bernadina had an RBI double and stole a base in Wednesday's win over the Astros. He also drew a walk. Bernadina has really struggled in the early going, batting just .161, but he'll still receive a good number of at-bats with Mike Morse on the shelf. He remains a fantasy option only in deeper NL-only leagues.

Roger Bernadina and Steve Lombardozzi could have their roster spots in jeopardy when Michael Morse (lat) and Rick Ankiel (quad) come off the disabled list. Lombardozzi would be the easiest player to send down given he's the Nationals' only bench player with an option remaining. Bernadina started in center field for the first two games, but isn't a lock to remain with the club.
