Astros recalled OF Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Okalahoma City.
Grossman will serve as the Astros everyday left fielder upon his return. He struggled in his first stint with the team, slashing just .125/.236/.313 with two homers and six RBI in 14 games. He could be worth a look in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Astros optioned OF Robbie Grossman to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Grossman went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday, which was apparently the final straw as it dropped his batting line to .125/.236/.313. The Astros are calling up top prospect George Springer to take Grossman's spot on the roster. Grossman will get another shot later this summer.

Robbie Grossman hit a two-run homer and walked twice against the Blue Jays on Thursday.
That's an improvement. Grossman entered the night with a .063 average, no runs scored and one RBI in 32 at-bats this season.

Dropped to eighth in the order, Robbie Grossman went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts on Wednesday.
The Astros redid their lineup at the end of the spring because of how impressed they were with Grossman, moving him up to second and going with Jose Altuve in the cleanup spot. It ended up lasting less than a week and a half with Grossman off to a 2-for-29 start. Now he's 2-for-32 with 12 strikeouts and still no runs scored. Fortunately for him, the Astros don't have anyone else they'd rather play in left field right now, so Grossman will get a chance to snap out of the funk.

Astros manager Bo Porter indicated Wednesday that Robbie Grossman will get at-bats out of the No. 2 spot this season.
Jose Altuve was originally slated to be the No. 2 hitter behind Dexter Fowler, but he could now slide into the No. 3 spot. Grossman, 24, batted .268/.332/.370 with four homers and six stolen bases over 63 games last season and has some appeal as a late-round option in mixed leagues.

Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle has confirmed a Yahoo! Sports report that the Astros have discussed an extension with Robbie Grossman's agents.
Ortiz says the deal would lock Grossman up beyond his arbitration years. Grossman isn't slated for arbitration eligibility until after the 2016 season, so the deal would obviously be a lengthy one. The 24-year-old batted .268/.332/.370 with four homers and six stolen bases over 63 games for the Astros last season. He's a career .269/.381/.387 hitter in the minors.

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the spring Saturday against the Tigers.
Grossman opened the spring as the favorite to start in left field for the Astros, and he's only widened his lead since; he's batting .417 in 24 at-bats. With his modest power, Grossman doesn't have a whole lot of fantasy upside, but he does have a chance to be useful in AL-only leagues.

Robbie Grossman (oblique) is still unable to swing pain-free.
Grossman has missed the last three weeks due to a strained right oblique, and it appears he's yet to make significant progress. The Astros have yet to officially shut him down, but it would be a longshot to think he could play sometime this week.

Robbie Grossman (oblique) has begun hitting off a tee, but still doesn't appear close to returning to the Astros.
Grossman hasn't appeared in a game since sustaining the injury on September 3. The Astros don't want to rush him back and risk re-injury, and time is running out for him to return before the end of the season. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .268/.332/.370 with four homers, 21 RBI and six stolen bases in his rookie season.

The Astros don't have a timetable for Robbie Grossman's (oblique) return.
Grossman suffered the injury during an at-bat last Tuesday and hasn't played since. "He's starting to increase his activity each and every day," said Porter, "but again you're talking oblique. Is he going to be able to swing pain-free? That remains to be seen." Trevor Crowe, the biggest beneficiary of Grossman's bad luck, has started nine games since rejoining the team on Aug. 31, batting .364 with five RBI. NL-only owners in need of a stopgap could do worse than adding Crowe until Grossman returns.
