He'll ride this positive wave, and a 4.73 ERA into his next start on Saturday against the Marlins.

Corbin (2-5) only lasted 3.1 innings during Tuesday's loss against Houston, in which he allowed seven runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

EDGE Analysis

Well...that was ugly. In what was Corbin's worst start of the season, the 26-year-old lefty failed to reach the fifth inning for the first time this season, and now he's allowed at least three runs in three of the last four starts. Corbin's next start won't be any easier, as he will take the mound on the road against the Cubs on Sunday.

Corbin (2-4) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned), six hits and two walks while striking out five in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

EDGE Analysis

There's no shame in losing to one of the best teams in the league, but Corbin's overall numbers raise some serious red flags. His 6.23 K/9 is well below his 7.51 career average. In addition, Corbin is issuing walks at a career-worst rate of 2.72 BB/9. The left-hander's fastball is down (91.5 mph) and his home runs allowed are up (1.44 HR/9). Corbin's value is limited outside of the deepest leagues.

The Diamondbacks did eventually win the game in extra innings, but that's little consolation for anyone with fantasy shares in Corbin. The outing lowered his ERA to 4.12, and he'll try to carry that momentum into his next start, at home against the Giants on Saturday.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said Corbin's stuff has been diminishing later in games recently, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Hale said he thinks it's a matter of rebuilding endurance for Corbin, who missed all of the 2014 season and a big chunk of 2015 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. "We really have to keep a close watch in the fifth, sixth inning, to see where his velocity is and how his stuff is," Hale said. Fantasy owners should expect shorter outings from Corbin for the time being. He is currently 1-3 with a 4.88 ERA.

The right-hander had a rough first month of the season, going 1-3 with a 4.88 ERA and giving up seven homers in April. Tuesday's start was one of his better ones this season, and he left the game with a lead that the bullpen eventually lost. Corbin did, however, surrender another longball for his league-leading eighth homer allowed.

Corbin (1-3) was knocked around for seven runs on seven hits and five walks over 5.2 innings in Wednesday's 11-4 loss to the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

Control is usually one of Corbin's stronger suits, but he couldn't find the handle in this one, throwing just 52 of 91 pitches for strikes. The lefty's played host to a pair of NL Central teams in his last two starts, and the results have been far less than extraordinary -- 12 runs (11 earned) thanks in no small part to four homers in 11.2 innings. He's never really been one to struggle with the long ball, but pitching in Arizona isn't an easy task. That said, things should improve for Corbin on Tuesday, when he draws his next start in pitcher-friendly Miami.
