Corbin kept Pittsburgh in check for most of the afternoon and both runs scored against him came via sacrifices. He also retired the last 13 batters he faced while picking up just the second win over his last 11 starts. The 32-year-old southpaw brought his season ERA down to 5.98 alongside a 122:50 K:BB. Corbin is projected to face the Rockies at home next weekend.

Corbin didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 4-3 win over the Mets, allowing three runs on 11 hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

The lefty threw 114 pitches (73 strikes) in his 10th quality start of the season, but Corbin exited on the hook for his 15th loss until the Nats rallied in the ninth inning. It's only the second time in 10 starts since the All-Star break he's given up fewer than four runs, and Corbin will carry a 6.14 ERA and 118:48 K:BB through 148 innings into his next outing.

The lefty projects to take the mound again Monday against the Mets.

Corbin (7-13) gave up six runs on four hits and a pair of walks over three innings in Thursday's loss to Miami. He registered three strikeouts.

Miami got to Corbin early and often in this one, tagging the veteran hurler for four runs in the first inning and two more in the second. Corbin was victimized by the long ball, giving up a three-run shot to Jorge Alfaro and a two-run blast by Miguel Rojas. Corbin has won just once in his last eight starts and has given up four-plus runs in all but one of those outings. He'll take a bloated 6.09 ERA and 1.40 WHIP into his next scheduled start.

Corbin (7-12) allowed one run on three hits while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings in a win over the Brewers on Friday.

Corbin was making quick work of the Brewers, firing off six shutout innings before Avisail Garcia eventually got to him with a solo homer with one out in the seventh. The 31-year-old southpaw's night ended there -- an admirable performance after he's endured so many struggles throughout the season. Corbin had entered Friday with six straight outings allowing four runs or more, so it was encouraging to see him have a bounce-back performance against a first-place team. He now owns a 5.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 107:41 K:BB over 133 innings and is set up for a favorable matchup against the Marlins next week.

The veteran southpaw is in the midst of a down season in which he's posted a 6.04 ERA, and 1.44 WHIP across 126.2 innings, but he seems extremely unlikely to lose his spot in the starting rotation given his track record and Washington's lack of other options.
