Corbin didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mets, giving up three hits and four walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw wasn't efficient, tossing 51 of 86 pitches for strikes before exiting, but he left the game with a 2-0 lead only to watch the Washington bullpen cough it up. Corbin has looked much better over his last three starts with a 2.37 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB through 19 innings, but his poor 19.9 percent strikeout rate and career-worst 10.9 percent walk rate on the season indicate how thin his margin for error can be.

Corbin (0-5) suffered the loss against Colorado on Wednesday, completing eight innings during which he allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits and no walks while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
It was an odd stat line for the veteran hurler, as he made it through eight innings on only 94 pitches despite allowing a fair amount of traffic on the bases. The efficiency was largely due to Corbin's good control -- he did not walk any batters after issuing multiple free passes in each of his first five starts this season. All of the damage against him was done in the fourth inning, when the Rockies racked up five runs on four hits and benefitted from a fielding error. To Corbin's credit, he bounced back strongly from that frame, allowing only two hits the rest of the way and retiring the final nine batters he faced. The southpaw has been better of late, but he still owns an ugly 7.16 ERA on the season, and he's tentatively lined up to next face the Mets at home early next week.

Corbin (0-4) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out eight across six innings to take the loss Thursday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Corbin turned in his longest outing of the season and picked up an impressive 14 swinging strikes on 90 pitches. He allowed only one unearned run through six innings, but he came out to begin the seventh frame and both runners he faced reached base and ultimately came around to score. Despite the relatively positive start, Corbin has now walked multiple batters in every appearance this season and has a 23:13 K:BB across 19.2 innings to go along with an 8.69 ERA.

Corbin (0-3) allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks over 1.2 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
All seven runs against Corbin crossed home during the second inning. Most of the damage came from Austin Slater's three-run homer followed by Brandon Crawford's three-run double that knocked him from the game. The 32-year-old southpaw is now sporting a brutal 11.20 ERA through four starts this season. Corbin is currently lined up for a rematch with the Giants next week in San Francisco.

Corbin allowed two runs on three hits and three walks over 5.1 frames in Sunday's loss to the Pirates. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Corbin fired five shutout innings before stumbling in the sixth. He loaded the bases with one out and was charged with two runs after he was replaced by Victor Arano. The veteran lefty now owns a 7.50 ERA through 12 innings this season. Corbin is expected to face the Giants at home next week.

Corbin (0-2) took the loss in Tuesday's 16-4 rout at the hands of Atlanta, coughing up six runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals were hoping Corbin might be able to turn things around in 2022, but through two starts things have not gone well for the veteran southpaw. He's been tagged for eight runs through 6.2 innings with a 7:5 K:BB, and the only really positive takeaway for Corbin is that he has yet to allow a home run after serving up 37 of them last season. He'll try to regain his footing in his next scheduled start Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Corbin (0-1) tossed four innings against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four to take the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Corbin allowed the first two batters of the game to reach base but was able to get out of the first inning unscathed. He went on to keep the Mets off the scoreboard through four frames before faltering in the fifth, when he put the first four batters on base. That signaled the end of the left-hander's outing, but Victor Arano did a good job in relief to ensure that only one additional run crossed the plate. Despite Corbin's loss, fantasy managers taking a gamble on him shouldn't be entirely disappointed by the up-and-down appearance considering the career-worst 5.82 ERA he posted last season. He'll likely take the mound for a start in Atlanta next week.

Corbin will start the Nationals' Opening Day matchup against the Mets on Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Corbin's spring starts lined up for him to take the mound Opening Day, and manager Dave Martinez confirmed the speculation Saturday. Across two starts this spring, Corbin struck out 10 in nine scoreless innings. Once the 2022 campaign gets underway, the southpaw will attempt to bounce back after posting a career-worst 5.82 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP in 171.2 innings across 31 starts last season.

Corbin threw four scoreless innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
It was a strong effort from the veteran southpaw, although it came against a Miami lineup with only a handful of big-league regulars in the lineup. Corbin tossed 57 pitches in the outing, and as Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post notes, he's now lined up to get the Opening Day start for the Nationals, although manager Dave Martinez has so far declined to name who will get that assignment. Corbin is looking to rebound from a rough 2021 in which he posted a career-worst 5.82 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and an ugly 11.0 percent K-BB%.

Corbin intends to work on keeping his pitches down this season, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander did just that in two simulated innings Wednesday, and what little success Corbin experienced in 2021 came when he attacked the bottom of the strike zone. The 32-year-old admitted Wednesday he got away from that approach last year in an effort to give up fewer homers. "Sometimes when you have a couple starts where you struggle and you're looking at those things a little too much, it's like, 'Hey, you got to pitch up more,' " Corbin explained at his locker Wednesday morning. "And it's kind of... not everyone is like that. Not everyone can do that or has the stuff for that." He's not too far removed from a 2019 campaign in which he posted a 3.25 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with a 28.5 percent strikeout rate, and the Nationals desperately need Corbin to regain something close to that form with Max Scherzer now a Met and Stephen Strasburg still recovering from last summer's thoracic outlet surgery. If he can put together a solid spring, Corbin might even take the mound Opening Day for Washington.
