Markakis went 2-for-4 with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs against the Phillies on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He's been on a tear lately, working his average back toward the .300 mark by going 8-for-20 with four doubles and five walks in his last five games. Markakis has been in fine form as an on-base machine all year long, but his near-total lack of power and speed -- not to mention the poor Atlanta lineup around him -- have unsurprisingly conspired to limit his his fantasy impact.

Markakis isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Markakis has been one of the more consistent hitters in the Braves' lineup this season, batting .298/.373/.741 over 130 games. He'll receive a rare day off Wednesday, with Nick Swisher taking on his duties in right field.

Markakis went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 20-6 loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The two-hit afternoon puts Markakis back over the .300 mark for the season, while his on-base percentage sits at an excellent .370. Those numbers have made Markakis an ideal fit as a leadoff man for the Braves, though the team was probably expecting more than two homers from him after he reached double figures in the category in each of his previous nine seasons in the big leagues.

Markakis went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. Markakis collected three of the team's five total hits on the evening, bringing his average up 10 points to .311 on the year. His offense has slipped a bit this month, as he owns a .267 May batting average, but still has a respectable .398 OBP in the 2015 season.

Markakis will bat cleanup Friday against the Marlins, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. The oblique injury to Kelly Johnson has forced manager Fredi Gonzalez to shuffle his lineup, with Markakis moving to the No. 4 spot and Jace Peterson atop the order. It's uncertain if this change will stick while Johnson is out, but if it does, Markakis will see more RBI opportunities but fewer run-scoring chances.

Markakis will be the Braves' leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future, at least against righties, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. Manager Fredi Gonzalez is often doing strange things with his lineup, but this move actually makes sense, as Markakis has a .359 career OBP and is getting on base at a ridiculous .444 clip in 63 plate appearances. In the leadoff role Markakis should get a few more at-bats per month and should be able to score more runs than if he was hitting in the middle of the Braves' lineup.

Markakis will not be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, MLB Network Radio reports. Markakis started the Braves' first eight games in right field, but he will get his first day off of the season Wednesday. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Markakis will serve as the Braves' designated hitter during their upcoming three-game series in Toronto, which will keep him in the lineup but give him a few days off his feet following his short spring.

Markakis (neck) will start in right field and bat third against the Marlins on Opening Day. As recently as last Thursday, there's was still a sliver of doubt in Markakis' mind regarding his availability for Opening Day, but he has been cleared by the training staff to take the field. Neck fusion surgery delayed Markakis significantly entering spring training, and he looked rusty in his first few games back (2-for-his-first-19), but evidently manager Fredi Gonzalez thinks Markakis can be leaned on a key run producer right off the bat.

Markakis (neck) said there is a 95 percent chance he's ready for Opening Day, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. While players typically overestimate their own readiness, there's been nothing to suggest Markakis won't be available for Opening Day. He's off to a 2-for-19 start this spring, but with only two strikeouts thus far, the numbers aren't worthy of concern. Markakis is on track to start in right field on Opening Day against Henderson Alvarez and the Marlins.

Markakis (neck) is batting .105 (2-for-19) with one extra-base hit and no walks through six spring training games. Since his 2-for-3 showing in his spring debut, Markakis has gone 0-for-16. He's not striking out much, and there has been nothing to suggest the Braves are losing confidence in Markakis' chances of being ready for Opening Day, but it seems there is still rust to knock off. Markakis underwent neck fusion surgery in December but is expected to play right field everyday for Atlanta this season.
