Markakis went 3-for-6 Sunday with three doubles, a run scored and two RBI.
EDGE Analysis
That's four doubles over the weekend for the veteran outfielder, and Markakis now boasts a .300/.364/.500 slash line on the young season with four runs scored and four RBI in five games. The Braves don't figure to generate a whole lot of offense this season, but a rebound from Markakis out of the two-hole would help boost the team's overall production.

Markakis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's spring game. "He put a charge in that one," manager Fredi Gonzalez told MLB.com. "He feels good. This is what we wanted. He's never going to ba guy who hits you 35 home runs. But he's a guy who can give you double-digit home runs. He's healthy, and he had a whole offseason to get stronger. I think we're going to see a different type of Markakis this year."
EDGE Analysis
The homer is especially noteworthy because it came against a left-hander, the Pirates' Steven Brault, and Markakis has managed just one home run against a lefty over the past two seasons. Markakis underwent neck surgery last offseason, which delayed him until late March. While he managed 181 hits in his first season with Atlanta, he had just three homers, falling short of double-digit home runs for the first time in his career.

Markakis is fully healthy entering spring training after he entered 2015 recovering from surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck, the Fox Sports South reports. "I like to think I did everything I can this offseason," Markakis said. "Offseasons get shorter and shorter as you get older. It was a good offseason, a productive offseason and I'm where I think I need to be."
EDGE Analysis
On a rebuilding Braves club, Markakis and Freddie Freeman will be tasked with serving as the team's primary run producers in the middle of the order. The shift out of Baltimore was likely a big factor in his drop from 14 homers in 2014 to three in 2015, but a slight bounce back in that department is likely on tap after a regular offseason for the 32-year-old this winter.

Markakis is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Markakis went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's loss to Miami.
EDGE Analysis
The first-inning shot was just Markakis' third on the season. Despite not providing much in the way of power, Markakis has gone on a tear over the past month, batting .296 with a .386 OBP, eight doubles and 18 runs. He has quietly put together a stellar season, ranking among the top 10 outfielders in the league in hits, doubles, batting average and on-base percentage.

Markakis is out of the lineup Monday due to a sore Trapezius muscle, but he could return as early as Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Markakis is out of Monday's lineup because of the issue, marking the second straight day he will sit. Michael Bourn will replace him in right field again, batting leadoff, but it sounds as though Markakis could rejoin the lineup within the next couple days.

Markakis is not in the lineup Monday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Markakis will be held out of the lineup for the second day in a row, though at this point there is no indication of anything being wrong with the 31-year-old. Michael Bourn will take over in right field once again and lead off.

Markakis is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Markakis continues to be one of the few consistent bats in the Braves' everyday lineup, but he'll receive some rest Sunday. Michael Bourn will replace him in right field and atop the order.

Markakis was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in a 2-1 victory over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Markakis continues to swing a hot bat and has reached base safely in seven of the last eight contests. He has also posted eight multi-hit outings in September, including over three consecutive games earlier in the week. While his power numbers are at a career-low in 2015, he has nevertheless been productive in virtually every major offensive category, and his .339 BABIP coming into Saturday's contest is his highest figure in that category since 2008.
